Georgetown Day vs. Maret?

Yep. However is there any private school in DC less so?

Not sure about that. However if you don't have tons of money and don't have a high status job, you will be more comfortable at Maret than some other schools. For kids, it does not matter.

How come threads with GDS go on and on and on?

GDS, among other independent schools, is moving away from AP courses. The curriculum already is very advanced, and the AP format imposes unnecessary rigidity on instruction. Kudos to GDS Head of School for taking a leadership role on this and getting other independents to join in. The Post noted that Maret also signed the letter as a 'me too' although Maret hasn't developed an AP curriculum.

Aren’t all the stats on Niche self reported by the students? Maybe GDS students are more active and numerous on Niche vs other schools

1000% the case. Meaningless ranking system.

Nope, surveys are weighted only 11.3 percent, the least among all six factors considered.

I agree with this.

The only difference between the ratings of GDS and Sidwell is that GDS gets an A for sports and Sidwell gets a B+. I’m not even sure that this makes sense. GDS is good at girls soccer and girls track. Sidwell is good at basketball, boys soccer and tennis. There is probably more but how does this make the difference?

The difference between GDS and Sidwell in these so-called “rankings” is so tiny. Why do you care?

Sidwell has won several DCSAA championships as well as MAC Director Cups over the last several years. Their only "bad" teams have been football and baseball - same coach finally retired. Football is 3-0 this year, and baseball started improving last spring.

Girls basketball is a nationally ranks top 5 team with three US National Team gold medalists.
Boys basketball has been near the top of city rankings with several D1 and D3 players, and 2 in the NBA.
Boys and Girls Tennis have swept the DC tennis for the past few years and are both nationally ranked.

I don't get how GDS is considered a better sports school unless it considered Quiddich to be a real sport.

Outside of the Cathedral Schools, for the last 15 years or so it has been:

Sidwell
Maret
GDS

In that order

Sidwell maybe losing its grip on kids of WH Admin/ Journalistas a bit on that in post- Obama years and wih a lot of dysfunction in US especially

But NONE of these schools are particularly strong in sports. LOL, come on- these are small Private schools and if they were to compete against any public school in BB, FB in Maryland or VA it would possibly be dangerous for them to even take the Field.
