The Clinton campaign bailed the DNC out of debt & raised money for the DNC & state parties to get out the vote. Brazile came in and wanted to control the money the Clinton campaign had raised and wanted to use the DNC post to promote herself.

/\/\/\/\/\/\ So says a big Hillary supporter.

So says a former state party Executive Director, campaign manager, and Congressional staffer.
Donna Brazile was the messenger sent by the DNC in 1988 to tell our state party we were getting no DNC money to get out the vote for our open Senate race and 3 close House races because all the money was going where the Dukakis campaign thought they could win, so I know damn well that she knows exactly how the DNC works. Look, the Clinton campaign certainly should have done better, but the DNC under Wasserman-Schultz and under Brazile did nothing to help anyone even after the Clinton campaign got them out of debt and got them funds for the general election. The main job of the party is to organize state parties to get the Democratic base to the polls. There should be a well established party organization in every swing state so that the Presidential, Senate, and Gubernatorial nomineees does not have to build their own GOTV network from scratch every election. Obama did not raise much money for the party and kept his organization for him only, which helped him but cost the Democrats seats everywhere else. Hillary actually tried to carry the party and work with and through state and local Democrats, but the DNC leadership were not campaign organizers or managers, but instead were self-promoters who wanted to talk on TV all the time. DES and Brazile were both terrible DNC Chairs because they added nothing positive to the party or the campaign, and instead had to be managed by the campaign to keep them in their lane. Brazile saying she considered replacing Hillary is especially delusional because the DNC Chair has no such authority.
