Exactly. OP, I'd think hard about that.

BU is a perfectly good school, but "one of the most prestigious colleges in the country" is overselling it a bit.

PP again: even still, I think BU is a good choice for a full ride all the way through medical school.

OP, watch out for "stipulations." Is that scholarship dependent on stipulations that your child maintain a certain GPA, or class ranking? Law schools are notorious for giving "generous" scholarships, only to add "stips" for things like class rankings. Then they "stack" sections to ensure that some of the scholarship students lose their funding. It's borderline criminal. Hopefully this isn't a thing in medical school.

I've never heard of BU. But you better bet that I and everyone in the U.S. has heard of Yale.

If her going to Yale means minor but uncomfortable changes in your lifestyle like less vacations and retiring later, then pick Yale.

If Yale means you'll be destitute and living in a cardboard box, then don't pick it.

There is a real academic pecking order in Cambridge/Boston. BU is pretty far down the list. I don't care if it's free.

This. MIT and Harvard, obviously. Boston College and Tufts too. And I'm probably missing a small SLAC in Boston that's above it too.

What if what? Probably a what if I met a rich guy. If she didn't meet a rich guy in her prime, the rich guys at Yale would have likely pumped and dumped too.

Meh. I went to prestigious Ivy over going to my state flagship for free (UF) and had a great experience, but spent a lot of time thinking "what if I wasn't so much in debt?" My life could have gone very differently.

Good point. She will have no debt whatsoever if she does the BU 7 year program. She will have hundreds of thousands if she goes to Yale. You really think Yale is worth that?

Can she get a shirt that says something like, "I'm Here on Scholarship"!

If I was OP's child is choose Take, but BC did not outrank BU. Straight up no.

Meant to type "I'd choose Yale" not "is choose Take".

The best looking girls at BU and Wellesley all gravitate to Harvard men first, MIT second. Could be very frustrating for your DC if he's male.

Maybe I missed that somewhere earlier in the thread. Did OP ever say that her child would have any debt at all at Yale? All I heard was full pay and money aside what would you do? Could be DC would have no debt.
