Him or her if he or she identifies with either of those genders. "Them" refers more than more than one child, i.e., children. And "their" does not apply to Wakefiled. It should be "its." Is are children learning? Other than that, you're doing great...

The Parent's grammar will fit in communicating will all the esol at Wakefield. Drawing pictures and repeating word loudly sometimes helps communication. Example "pta, PTA" even putting the sign up in Spanish won't get them to attend a PTA meeting.

And nobody is more racist against Latinos than Asians. They are some of the worst offenders.

Please explain.

My Korean friends will not send their kids to school with Latinos. That is because they are racist. Not complicated.

Maybe because they know most are illegals and low performing ESOL students

Yes. They think that way about an entire race of people, because they are racist.

um Kettle? it's Pot calling...

Where is the guy that is so bothered about other people's real estate choices? Are you that bothered that someone has made a savvier investment than you? They aren't afraid of brown people, so they have a nicer home, greater potential for appreciation, better commute, and his kids will have a better shot at a more prestigious college. All while benefiting from a more diverse educational experience. I'm sorry your fear has kept you from these things. Maybe your children will do better.

LOL.if only you knew. I live in a neighborhood that is orders of magnitude more diverse than SA and my kids go to Big 3. I'm not unsophisticated white dude living in Gainesville or Centerville or Vienna or some equally hideously uncultured place. I just want to know what bad decisions does one make that leads to kids at Wakefield??

You don't get to brag about how enlightened you are for living in a diverse neighborhood if you pull your kids out for private school

Different poster. Why not? There are plenty of people who live in predominantly white neighborhoods and send their kids to private school because they think they'll get a better education. What if the pp values diversity and still wants their kids to get a top notch education. Sorry, but Wakefield doesn't compare to a Big 3. There are plenty of people who, if they had the money for big 3, would never be caught dead in a diverse neighborhood. The people on this board are so emotionally irrational about lower SES schools. I live in an ethnically diverse neighborhood and am happy to have my kids live in an environment where they interact with people from all walks of life. I think the schools aren't very good and we've finally decided to move after years of debating. At least the pp is putting his money where his mouth is as far as valuing diversity.

Except there are no close in northern va neighborhood's more diverse than south Arlignton. So they should be going now...

The Falls Church (Fairfax) neighborhoods might be more diverse.

I thought we were talking falls church city schools.

There are no lower rated falls church city schools

PP was trying to simultaneously get credit for living somewhere "more diverse" than south Arlington (22204 is about as diverse as it gets, except for maybe 22042 and 22046) but also said, effectively, that they pay enormous amounts of money to keep their child from attending school with the neighborhood children. Your kids may get the message that you value education, but you better believe they are getting other messages, too, starting with "what's good enough for those other kids isn't good enough for you." I'm not raising my kids to think that way.

I guess you must live in one of the low income housing complexes that those other kids live in also. You would never want your kids to get the message that what's good enough for those other kids isn't good enough for them. And by the way, I don't think the education is good enough for the other kids either.

I still would like someone to explain what specifically about "the education" is so concerning and how it is so different from the other Arlington schools.

The question was posed hours ago, but still no response:what poor life decisions lead to the embarrassment of having kids at Wakefield or worse still, Kenmore?? Matriculation from a second-rate university? Lack of drive? Divorce? Stupidity? Savvy real estate investing? Can someone explain?
