WES or St. Andrews

It looks like they finally posted the new enrollment numbers. Current enrollment is 256. That is down from 277 last year. The school has been on a steady decline for the past ten years. I just looked at an old directory from ten years ago, and the enrollment was 331. It has been going down since then.

So, even the drop in tuition for this year at the lower grades has not been enough to attract new students. Not a positive sign.

Also says 198 families when last year, according to the website ( until last week), there were 220.

After our experience at WES, I wouldn't send my DC there even for FREE!

An email with information on the two finalists for Heasdmaster was sent out. Neither candidate has an Episcopal school background. Very disappointing.

Both candidates have experience within the metro area and that's good. Hope they have experience with building and maintaining a client base thru fine curriculum and wise management. WES is a turnaround at this point. I hope WES gets this right.

I hope so as well. You are correct in that it is a turnaround at this point. The steady decrease in enrollment demonstrates that.

We know a couple of families with children at WES and they seem to like it fine. Otherwise, I cannot address the current situation there. But, turning back to the original topic, we visited both WES and St. Andrews last year. We found WES depressing and cold. We loved St. Andrews for its warmth and openness, and so we applied there. We ended up choosing another school for DC, but I would recommend St. Andrews in a heartbeat.

There is no contest -- St. Andrew's is fabulous. WES is on life-support.

St Andrews is the best bet here. Families are happy and tge school is well regarded. WES is in trouble and I'd rather go with a proven school.

Unless this information is publicly disclosed elsewhere, please don't mention names.

The names are listed in the WES search update letter, but since both candidates are employed elsewhere, I wondered about the wisdom of that. Assume their employers know they are looking elsewhere. Anyway, best not to name names on this forum.

As someone (not OP), who knows both schools well, I really think this thread has turned into some kind of vendetta against WES. Frankly, at this point, I think it makes St Andrews' look bad. Can't we give it a rest? It's open house season - let people go and see for themselves; there are plenty of opportunities to do so.

But there is no Chaplain at WES. Please post current information so that other posters/readers have an accurate description. Otherwise it seems deceiving.

You are correct! Thank you! Sadly, the leadership at WES doesn't understand your point. They do not understand whey many of us who are Episcopalian take issue with it.
