| Oh, stop. |

Getting past the BFES humble bragging about waiter and such in the cafeteria, let's return the discussion to the fact that Starr and his cronies at MCPS are continuing to allow certain clusters to be horrendously overcrowded while keeping the Churchill and Wootton clusters below capacity. Let the uprising begin.

. First let's actually establish that Starr and his "cronies" (really? cronies?) are actually deliberately keeping some clusters (which clusters?) overcrowded while keeping Churchill and Wootton clusters below capacity. Let's also propose some plausible motivation for Starr and his "cronies" to do this deliberately. |
| Seems unlikely that Starr would not include his own children's cluster on the favored list. His own kid's school is over crowded. |
Not convinced it's a conspiracy but there are a lot of questions to their decision making process, many have been covered in this thread. But Starr is not the only one who deserves to have fingers pointed in his direction. These were issues long in the making and he's only been in the post for a few years. True, the schools, good or bad, are his responsibility. But the county council and the board of education share a significant part of the blame for this lack of planning. I hope people who post to this thread also are writing to their elected officials on the council and the board demanding action. And don't stop at one letter, e-mail or phone call. Follow-up and keep doing it until you get an answer to your satisfaction. Also, get your neighbors and other parents to do the same. One voice may be ignored but many voices cannot. Get active. That's how change is made. |
I know you're being fascetious but not sure why you're trying to feed this notion that BFES is a mecca. My kids are there and my 3rd grader goes to lunch at 10:50. |
| After his 10:50 lunch, he goes back to a classroom with 11 kids, passing by other classes that are half-empty. |
Yes, exactly, how did you know? Actually, SHE doesn't walk, she and her classmates take the segways that Starr provided for each individual student. *eyeroll* |
| Wootton is way overcapacity and overcrowded. Its also falling apart. |
So are most of the other HS around here. But the ESs in the Wootton are not. Don't know about Wootton's middle school, but I know Julius West is waaay over-capacity. |
Wootton capacity: 2,156. Wootton current enrollment: 2,259. Wootton is at 105% of capacity. Clarksburg capacity: 1,638. Clarksburg current enrollment: 1,958. Clarksburg is at 120% of capacity. |
High schools that are NOT over capacity: Blair Blake Damascus Gaithersburg Walter Johnson Kennedy Magruder Richard Montgomery Northwest Northwood Paint Branch Rockville Seneca Valley Sherwood Springbrook Watkins Mill |
Interesting that all of the W schools, which people seem to think get all these secret benefits and special treatment, are overcapacity. I'll bet the class sizes are well above average too. |
Ah shoot. Need coffee. WJ is on the list. |
