You do know that the GOP is constantly attacking the IRS budget. Right? And you do know that the contract was not abruptly canceled, but the term ended August 31, and they did not renew it, so the timing was driven by the contract. Right? I always wondered what the birthers did after Obama released his long form birth certificate. Now I know. |
Not pp - The IRS budget is being attacked with good reason. When you spend tax payer money on Star Trek “training” videos, excessive conference spending, and questionable bonuses to employees, your budget should be under scrutiny. Don’t forget - this is TAX PAYER MONEY they are spending on these things. Their budget is money that is coming from the TAX PAYERS in this country. |
Good point. Listening to Gerry Connolly last night, you'd think that was the whole problem: money. One website said that is going to be the platform for the Dems: more money for the IRS. |
I would hope so -- the sequester has been a horrible policy. I'd vote for more money for everything but defense, since their budget is already 5 times what it was pre 9/11. |
And, you'd give more money to the VA, as well? |
And, I would hope not. I think there have been too many instances of government waste in the news of recent. And, these are only the incidences that have made the news. Personally, I think ALL dept. budgets should be frozen until the departments can demonstrate that measures have been taken to cut the waste and unaccounted spending. Once again, the money the government is spending is TAX PAYER money. It is so easy to misuse other people’s money. |
Pretty sure that you wouldn't be voting for the democrats no matter what their platform is. And yes, the VA problem is lack of resources. No doctors want to work there because the compensation is so poor. I would be in favor for making it much easier to fire federal employees. But generally, the problem is insufficient resources not waste in my opinion. That's why I don't vote the same way you do. And putting your positions in allcaps isn't likely to change my opinions. |
OK but that good reason can result in contracts being canceled. Most companies do not retain backups indefinitely and it is not surprising that the IRS wouldn't. |

Examples of VA fraud and abuse are listed at the bottom of the article. |
So, a "convenient" budget problem after a "convenient" hard drive crash..........Oh, yes, all due to budget problems. |
Please cite to articles by journalists that have not been discredited for peddling hogwash if you want to be taken seriously. |
The IRS requires the taxpayers to maintain records for 3 years, I believe. I think this requirement would also apply to the agency itself. Last night, one of the Congressmen noted that this agency spent over 48 million in training, conferences, and travel. No doubt, some of that training, and possibly travel, was necessary. However, I am fairly confident that a large amount of that funding could have been used to update or maintain records, or even hire a company to do so. |
Hogwash? So, now you are condemning the messenger. Did you even read the list of abuse? |
Please cite what has been discredited. |
She has been widely discredited for her partisan reporting. Surely you can find a neutral source. Just to check your internal consistency, you spent the last decade decrying the wasteful spending in Iraq, right? All those billions spent on nation building beyond the astronomical cost of our maintaining a military presence there for such a long period of time. |
