The "D" is actually pretty meaningless. It is just a placeholder for the acronym. People typing it aren't think dear or darling or dumb etc... it has just become internet speak as an abbreviation to use two letters instead of H, D or S. It is a short form like most others. Instead of writing out my oldest daughter, my son and my husband you can type DD1, DS and DH. With the increasing use of texting, twitter and other short hand types of writing abbreviations are pretty much here to stay.
