I feel like a $hitastic Mom after reading the Kelly Hampton blog. Am I the only one?

She makes me strive a little more to see the good when it's sometimes hidden.

Whose aren't? No adult should use their parents' divorce as a crutch or a sympathy card. Not saying she does, but come on, I'm not giving a grown woman any props because her parents are divorced.

Her parents are divorced? Her father is gay? Is this supposed to make her sit around and cry? Ruin her life? What is this, 1962?

I was just reading through her blog and I saw this about her new camera lens after a longgg post about her kids that gave me a little giggle to be honest.

'fun possibilities for focus and subject placement within a shot. '

Subject placement. 'Subjects' - that's her kids lol.

Haha Anon again, I had to whip this up in paint... I couldn't resist.

Um, she's a photographer. What is wrong with using the term "subject placement"?

What on earth made me re-visit her blog just in time for Christmas? All the creative crafty things I'm not doing. A North Pole party with a Reindeer Food buffet and goody bags for the kids?

I'm truly a failure. sigh.

Randomly stumbled across a story this morning linking to Kelle's blog... turns out they had baby #3. http://www.kellehampton.com/2013/02/welcoming-dash-birth-story.html

I love Kelle. I don't find her to be a perfect mom or wonder woman.

Welcome little Dash.

Can't life be lived today without documenting on the internet every "small thing" ? And then manipulating every "small thing" until it's been morphed into some rosy facade of life? It's just warped. I'm not talking about this woman in particular, although she's an apt example.

This. And making money off it makes me want to puke.

I agree with this. And I actually do like her blog, strangely.

How much money do blogs like hers usually make? Just curious in general about popular blogs.

Kelle is probably making $80k+ a year off the blog. Between page views, sponsors, and book sales, it is supporting her family. Her husband no longer appears to work, he's just hanging around the house all day like she is. I cannot respect a person who exploits her children to pay the bills though. She might otherwise be a good mom but when the mortgage getting paid depends on how cute the pictures of your kids were this month, that's gross.

My guess is she's making far more than that.

I agree. I remember reading that Dooce was making 20K/month at one point, maybe more! I have mixed feelings about Kelle Hampton. But it appears the kids are happy and healthy and loved, so not going to engage in drama. I may not have made her same choices but at best she's annoying. I thought the post she wrote about her birth with Nella was brave and raw, so I'm forever impressed with that. Off to read about Dash!

I don't read her blog regularly but I think it is good in small doses! So much stuff on the Internet about parenting is so negative (ahem dcum) - it is nice to see the positives celebrate unabashedly. I think she is honestly just a kooky, positive person too. But she is also very emotionally honest in the birth posts I read - she really captures the intensity.
