Sick of people w/dogs walking them up to and on elementary school property

uh, no actually. It is not even because dogs and children are not and never will be equals. I will kick any dog that comes near my child. You need to know that a human beings right to protect their child from feces tinged dog saliva supersedes your right to walk your dog near a child. If your dog were to bite a child, in this city of lawyers, first bite rule exception or not you would risk losing everything you own in a lawsuit. What a foolish, selfish risk you take doing that.

You are a total nutcase. But sure, go ahead with your soccer moves (umm...okay...) and I'll be sure to have my cell phone so I can call the police when you act agressively towards my dog.

18:34 again...y'know the one with the Nike's. I am not the same poster as the one you are referring to above. There must be two of us on the same page. Nike wearers and soccer moms unite!! Just do it.

Yes, this thread is getting riduculous and in some cases, personal...though it is not meant to be. Dogs are not people - despite what some of you may think - the pure emotion some of you are putting into this proves this point. You folks should lighten up. Dogs are animals...butt licking, trash eating, smelly, pea-brained animals. Oh, I forgot, they have with special, healthy super-saliva, too. Despite this, I do not "hate" dogs. Some of you would say negative things about other "pets." Get over it.

I am not an aggressive person and don't go around threatening animals. Some of the responses have been enlightening, but have not changed my opinion. I will still kick your dog if you cannot get it away from my child despite my warnings. We should start a revolution, here. A bit over the yop, but I am willing to have "Beware of the Nike's" signs and buttons to be worn when folks like me are out on walks and dogs (and owners) start this nonsense. If it starts to lick...it gets the kick. Lick it and Kick it. Also, if cell phone mom calls the police after my Nike kick, I'll bet you a buck that the police officer will also kick your dog.

hee hee. It would be very likely that the dog would be confiscated by animal control--or doggie detention center. This would no doubt be followed up by the owner completely losing it and involuntarily being driven to the nearest lock-up in the rear seat of a cruiser-with the tell tale forward leaning posture of a perp in 'cuffs. I think "Respect the Nike" says it more aptly. Sans doubte.

Edited to add that I would never think to bring my dog to a ballet class nor would I expect that she would be allowed there. This isn't France.

Ok. YOU wouldn't. But obviously some dog owners would--I see them tied up at the entrance to Wagshal's, in Border's in Friendship Heights, in Child's Play for Chr*st's sake, in the florist on Fessenden and Wisc., at all local CVS's in Spring Valley, Tenely area, ... I travel a lot --no where in America except maybe Hollywood, have I seen such absurdity. Of course in Europe everyone does this--but then, routinely wearing deodorant, leg shaving, and not smoking in an elevator are all relatively new concepts across the pond.

PP here-I see dogs, not dog owners tied up...at the other places people just bring their dogs in with them....it's all about them, them, them and their neurotic dog who can never be left alone for a minute. They seriously need an appt with Cesar, the Dog Whisperer. Many of you very whiny posters here need to learn to be pack leader and stop letting your dogs drag you around like fools. Get a couple of dogs--leave them at home with each other to keep each other company while you come to pick up your kid at school, go to Child's Play, CVS, or bookstore. Dogs have no place in these venues. And with all the issues going on at our local public school--I've got bigger fish to fry with my principal than whether dogs can be kept X feet away from the entrance...

Did you not comprehend the post that you quoted? What part of "I readily, wholeheartedly agree that I will do my absolute best to keep my dog away from strange children" do you not understand?

You are an absolute lunatic if you think that people are not allowed to walk their dogs on a sidewalk where children are present. Leash? Check. Responsible owner with well-behaved dog? Check. Crazy people on DCUM who just want to cause trouble and be ugly and kick dogs? Check!

PP - I am with you. People who suddenly revive long-dead threads with such anger are clearly NUTS. The person who revived this post speaks of a right to protect her child from "feces tinged saliva" and posted at 1:47 in the morning! She is crazy!!! I reserve the right to protect my children from people like you. Perhaps I will sick my dog on you.

i know this bugs me too, especially b/c i know of at least 3 children who were bitten randomly by supposed "friendly" dogs. at horace mann the stoddert soccer people come with their dogs and let them poop on the playground area. speaking of, does anyone know who runs stoddert soccer? i would like to contact them to ask them to prevent this from happening, as horace mann park is supposed to be a dog-free park and there are signs there saying so.

Anonymous wrote:Wow- I think that the OP may have been slightly over the top, but she's right about people letting off-leash dogs run around in spaces that should be reserved for kids. I've seen people do this at the park where I take my daughter, who is afraid of dogs. I tell them that it's a park for kids and that dogs need to be leashed. Usually this works.

lighten up!

there is something seriously wrong with anyone that would kick a dog. I would definitely kick your stupid ass kids, and beat you to a pulp if you ever tried anything like that around me!

WTF is your problem?

Anonymous wrote:13:44 - it isn't all about you. and quite frankly, why do you think a child should move off the sidewalk to accomodate your dog? That is just obnoxious to me. People shouldn't have to ask that you move your dog from blocking a building/sidewalk/etc. In your post, you acknowledge you clearly see the people - you just expect them to go around you. You are the type of dog owner that I dislike.

WTF? You need to get a brain.

Actually it is safer to kick a dog than hit it with your hand. You don't want to get your face too close.

I find this thread puzzling in that I have never had this problem walking my two dogs, and they always get near kids. The kids usually pet my dogs, or they walk by them. I think I have as much of a right to walk my dog on the sidewalk as you have to walk your child down the sidewalk. It's not about the rights of the child vis-a-vis the dog, it's about the right of two people to share the sidewalk in a respectful way. The way to do this will differ and can be accommodated on a case by case basis. Similar to sharing the road to bicyclists.

One thing I will promise the PP, and anyone else reading this: if anyone kicks my dog for coming close to your child, I will punch you in the face. Repeatedly. I will not have that. I love my dogs. My dogs have hurt no one. They would never hurt anyone. And I will not have anyone kicking my dog. I might hit your kid too. So just remember before you kick someone's dog: that dog might be mine.

Get a life! Dog's on a leash are fine near schools, as long as the owners clean up after them if they crap. I really dont go near the kids in the playground anyway if they are in recess. Some idiot dweeb up near my home by the Hepburn Lycoming Elementarty School here in PA tried to tell me some dog walking crap too, I just told him off and kept right on walking. Kids were off that day for Christmas too! I didnt' see any NO DOGS signs either! Some people just think they are God and want to boss everybody about nothing important!
