quote]Ok. I'm zzzzz and sine qua non poster. That is bully for WL. And it really just fine that people who choose it are happy with it. Your almost religious zeal is off putting and weird, btw, and I regret having stirred you up. Carry on.
Dude, I don't have a dog in this fight, but talk about off putting . . . What kind of wierdo incessently checks a forum on schools and repeatedly tries to make the point that a whole group of people are wierd? Really. It's goofy. You seem like the kind of person one gets trapped talking to at a Thanksgiving dinner, someone who won't shut up about the obvious injustice in the world and how much better things would be if they just saw things your way. |

Wow. You just described yourself, apparently. I do have a child in school system, so, I check the forum. You don't have a "dog" in the fight but you join in randomly? That's weird. |
Wading through this thread has been a slog, but worth it for a gem of a post like this. Thanks for imparting worthy advice unlike some of the mudslingers on this thread. |
Winner! PP posts up that she wouldn't consider a school (Latin?) because of some made-up reason (regarding diversity). And then gets called on her B.S. because everything she bitched about? Wasn't even true. And THEN it comes to light that this school is outperforming her school (all of them obviously, but presumably Deal based on her high irritability factor and projected sense of entitlement). So... all this time her "philosophical objection" is all sour grapes. Probably because her kid couldn't handle the more academic environment of Latin? Scream on, old sow. It makes it easier for the rest of us to avoid you. |
Huh? All I get from this is that you're cranky.
|
|
19:10... you aren't cranky becausea, check one
a) you live in Deal Boundary b) your kids are like 3 or 5 and this is just entertainment c) you have a solution to the urban ed. issues in this city and can't wait to share it d) you have no solution and are pleased that you may tell friends and famiy this holiday how great you are to be a part of public ed., how color blind and well rounded your kids area nd how generous you parents are but really you contribute only blurry bragging rights cuz you dig way too much getting quasi-private ed for free by virtue of your brilliant home choice |
Sorry, PP. It's disconcerting how W3 parents like to pretend there's no obvious favoritism in the schools. Orwellian almost. In any case, Washington Latin is better than Deal in more way than you can count! And, does anyone know about DC Prep? Or KIPP? DCPS sets a low bar - even with Deal - I'm sure there are multiple options that beat it. |
The voices in your head are the clear winners here. |
Bitter, much? |

Strong Middle Schools in DC
(1) Deal (2) Hardy (3) Stuart Hobson (4) Cap City, Two Rivers, Latin, Jefferson |
| Jefferson. Strong? By what measure please? |
Majority proficient, safe enrivonment. |
| Not that it matters, but Jefferson is not "diverse." |
"Strong" based on the total weight of their facilities? Latin has the best scores. That's all you need to know. |
| Latin does not have the best scores. Look at Deal's scores for 2009-2010 compared to Latin's. |
