Correlation =/= causation |
Says the moron who uses AI… |
Urban myth. There are maybe a few outliers but definitely not the norm. I know at least for MIT, there are close to zero such outliers. |
| Neither me nor my DH attended an ivy league school. We both have flexible well paying jobs with good work life balance. We have a great life and it's what we want for our kid. Not a crazy high pressure job that will destroy their health. |
And that doesn’t contradict the conclusion. Social science isn’t science. |
| Will any of this matter in the world of AI? |
Doesn’t disprove what I said. Also, LOL to your naivete if you think there isn’t a significant amount of personal financial gain in these alleged medical breakthroughs and NGOs. |
Right now it matters by the number of AI companies founded by elite school dropouts. It’s massively skewed. However, the founders agree that no college is keeping up with the times. |
Again, correlation =/= causation. Yes, the privileged kids who benefit from private tutors and infinite chances end up being privileged adults. Honestly, the level of discourse in this thread (and the complete lack of understanding of statistics and to be blunt, how the world works) just reinforces the point that the average Ivy admit is NOT the best and the brightest, but just another privileged spawn of striving, prestige obsessed parents who couldn’t think their way out of a paper bag… |
Another low iq person exposed. |
DP. Nothing about that post is low IQ. It is simply stating a different preference. Low IQ is not being able to understand the difference. |
| Remind your kids that family, with education, is the best investment. |
+1 I'm going to retire at 56 with a good enough nest egg for us to travel a few times per year. This has been my goal since I was a teenager. -no name state u grad But, my one DC is interning at two quant firms and expecting a return offer from one of them. They are at a state flagship. I've worked for a FAANG for most of my career, and I could keep up with my peers who graduated from places like MIT. I was always a top performer. IMO, an Ivy+ label gets you there faster, and it certainly opens more doors initially. But, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are smarter when it comes to the workplace. |
+100. |
Trying is inference using anecdotal instead of statistical evidence IS low iq. |
