| OKM cannot host this meet. We are an OKM family. the viewing area is horrendous due to it being long course as well. People will freakin riot. |
What? |
People will riot when they can't properly watch their snowflake future D1 commit swim. If you've been to the pool you would understand. I'm sure OKm would handle the meet well. But it is awful for a large amount of people to watch and no easy way to move them in and out after each heat. |
Summer swim is back!
|
Picture a pool shaped like a lower case t. Short course events swim the short leg across the t. Long course events swim the long leg, the vertical portion of a lower case t. This configuration leaves both sides of the short course lanes mostly surrounded by water which limits spectator options to further away from the action or to the start / turn ends of the pool. |
There’s even a published schedule. Well almost. No AsR or IaS on the schedule. |
You do know that the people with actual potential D1 commits give no f*cks about summer swim? |
Yeah. I think that’s the joke. And a true problem in this area, so many parents seem to think their kids are all going to the Olympics/pro. Truly one of the most insufferable things about being a parent in this area. It’s okay Chad, I know you spend 15k a year on private coaching, but little Aiden still can’t hit a slider. And that’s okay, I know you just had a high school coach that didn’t understand you were a 5 tool player and that’s the only reason you aren’t finishing your career with the Astros. But you don’t need to destroy your kid’s childhood to prove you have professional sporting genes. |
When Orange Hunt hosted IAS, spectators were at the turn end (start end for 8 and unders). It happens. No riots. Bad spectator areas are the least of the NVSLs concerns. |
For IAS you parade in and parade out for single event viewing (If ASR is held they plan to do the same, no more saving sections) and you might see the race and it goes by in a blink of an eye except IM. No one really cares that much for it. Mostly just want to get it done. |
once again, if you have ever been to OKM you would understand. The spectators can't be behind the turn or start, and there is no efficient way to get the spectators in and out. I've been to Orange hunt, there can be a flow in and out. No good side of the pool viewing either because it is water. |
Ang yet they hosted in 1985. So, somehow they made it work. |
1985 was before cell phones. Now we need to take pictures of our DDs for our socials. |
In 1985, was it just top 12? Did they have 100IMs then? Was 25fly an event for 8U? Just curious what the IAS were in 1985 so i can understand the differences if any. |
| Parents would just watch at OKM where they watch during regular season meets... if the viewing isn't great, due to the t-shaped pool meaning you have to spectate from further away, so be it. No pool is perfect. Any pool could come up with an excuse why they can't ever take a turn hosting. |
