ECNL Girls National Playoffs/Finals 2025 Thread

Well. Richmond United 09 carries through to the round of 16 again.

Tough matchup with FC Dallas but we will see if RU can make it home again to the round of 8 for the third time in 4 years.

Regarding VDA, one of their key players also suffered an injury - not sure at what point in the game but that didn’t help their chances either.

FVU 2010G also makes it out of group play. Opponent Wednesday still TBD.

Was beginning of 2nd half. Would not have made a difference anyway. Maybe next year.

Woo-hoo! This has to be one of the biggest years for DMV soccer at ECNL playoffs, no?

Bethesda and VDA 2008s head to sweet 16. Richmond 2009s too.

Arlington and Bethesda 2011s still have to play but they look like they’re heading to the round of 16. VDA 2010s could still make it as a wild card, right? And then FVU 2010s through.

How did the Arlington 2012s do? (Abd why do their scores always update so late?!)

Pretty good showing for the DMV!

First year together with new faces, they'll be better next year.

I thought BP was the savior of VDA? VDA 09 made it out of the group and into the round of 16 2 years in a row. He takes the team over and they lose 2 of their 3 group games. What happened?

What are you talking about with new faces? It’s 4 new faces that have been on the team all year.

He is the savior, but he can't change things with the snap of a finger. Only thing to really wonder is how long his contract is for and hopefully VDA was smart unlike FCV and made a contract that starts and ends in July not before the spring.

What needs to change? He was handed one of the best teams in ECNL and could not get past the group stage. Something that team did 2 years in a row before BP’s arrival.

If you've had a daughter on one of his teams, you would know that BP is known for marketing, connections and getting players committed to colleges. He is NOT known as a good tactical soccer coach, developer of talent, or inspirational coach. He will not make VDA 09 better at team soccer, in fact they will likely get worse as happens with many of his teams, but he will get them great exposure and college commitments. Isn't that what we all want?

+100. This is exactly orrect.

Did you watch the game? The PDA team is knows how to play. VDA girls don't understand how to play. They just think if they kick it, they'll win the ball and score. Same thing with CSA. Big and fast but no skill or understanding of the game. At this point, they won't change. I'm sure they will get recruited.

Did you actually watch? The pda goals came from a long shot, a long ball that turned into a break when VDA was pushed up trying to score, and a scrum in the box from a pda long ball that VDA didn’t properly clear. Both teams know how to play. Pda was the better team and won the game.

Between boxes, PDA is much more effective than VDA. PDA had more possession.

If you see the comments here you would think these teams play some high level soccer. If you watch on the sidelines (reality), it is all kick and run relying on big players no skills no IQ. Just kick it and stay with it to get a good hassle. Someone is Dilusional people

Congrats to the top seeds winning their groups this is what you’re supposed to do in this setup. Punching ticket to Richmond is what separates the elite from the rest as the draws can get funky from the Round of 16 moving forward. Hope we can get some local teams back home to Richmond!

Yup - playing PDA for years in NA - they're definitely not kick and run. Of course if the situation makes sense they'll capitalize, but they clearly emphasize possession. Not that it matters in the playoffs anyways. Survive and advance!
