ECNL Girls National Playoffs/Finals 2025 Thread

As a parent, you got your team to National playoffs, you get an invite, but she knows kids from almost every one of the local clubs either disinvited if moving on or invited if joining going to CA. Its gross and puts kids in terrible positions.

HC doing this at MDU with 2011’s. It’s unethical and disgusting.

The season ends at tryouts as far as I'm concerned. Playoffs is a new team for all intents and purposes.
So ..
If you're leaving a team, just leave. Buh bye. It doesn't matter if you were cut, chose to leave, moved to another town.
Go to the playoffs with your new team, because otherwise you're just taking up space (unless you're *really good, and you know if you are because you're not worried about playing time at nationals.....)

Or your old club is refusing to release your player and turn over their card. That is unethical and disgusting

If this is happening and there is not more to the story, the ECNL will get involved. Take it up the ladder.

Are the clubs refunding fees for the spring? And charging the new players? Seems like a contractual problem if they are taking money for the full year and then not honoring it.

I think everyone on DC Urban Mom is pulling for Arlington to bring home that natty!

Nobody cares really. It is a kids tournament with kick and run style and few days vacation together which is good for kids socially . I have got club World Cup to watch real soccer. You guys too invested in this thinking you are going to a World Cup. lol. How much is the prize money for the winner?

mdu isn’t even supposed to be there. And if the new kids cards were released by their defunct ecnl club and they are an asset to the team it is what it is. Welcome to the real world

Yes happens all the time. You try to stack the best team for playoffs.

ECNL in NOVA holds tryouts March 1st. You are building teams for the new club year. Regarding National Playoffs, rosters freeze May 1st. After May 1st you may add 2 new players, provided they have committed to your club for the new club season and are released from their clubs.

Clubs releasing players can get held up for multiple reasons: the teams is still in season or the player owes the club money. Most clubs release without issue as long as the player leaves in good standing.

Kids on the current roster, even if they are not returning (choosing to leave or cut from the team) for the new club year, are eligible to go to Nationals. Most players, who are leaving, don't want to invest any more time or money into their current teams and chose not to attend.

Speaking of unethical, it's "disgusting" when coaching staff poach or influence players from one ECNL club to leave for another.

When players email a coach of another team to ask for a tryout, should that coach tell them to stay on the team they’re on already? Would that be ethical?

Nothing unethical about players changing teams if they think it’s in their best interest. Clubs don’t make multi year commitments to players. Why should it be different the other way?

The 2012s won’t win their first game.

Arlington 2011 going for that natty! At least according to their parents with their fake humility.
