I still don’t see how that would negatively impact an ED application. Fewer applications and fewer acceptances doesn’t necessarily change the percentage accepted. If fewer kids decide to actually attend, that might impact RD acceptance rates due to low yield but again we’re discussing ED, where it’s irrelevant (unless there’s a high transfer out rate, which hasn’t been suggested here and is more of an issue with international students at Slacs). I’m not sure what you mean by development - that typically refers to the fundraising arm of the college. |

For white males and Asian males getting a B in calculus, especially multiple B's across quarters, semesters, etc., will be an autoreject from MIT.

In NC magnet’s case, the acceptance rate is low. Sometimes zero for the top slacs. |
DD is taking Advanced Calculus and will end up with a B+ this year. Private, transcript only reports the final grade. She struggled along the way, getting Ds and Fs until she finally figured it out. Over that point, she consistently gets As in her quizzes and tests, and expects the same for the final. Due to the many Ds and Fs, even if she aces the final, her grade will be capped at B+. We are extremely proud of her progress in taking this challenge. She may not get into an ivy because of the B+, but I think she is college ready. Senior year she will be taking multiple variables. Her teacher will be writing a recommendation for her, providing a context for the grade and evidencing her mastery of Advanced Calculus. |
| Being Asian is irrelevant. The issue is seeming like everyone else from TJ on paper but with lower grades. Also, we know nothing of ECs, recs or writing. No one here can answer your question. |
