Yes, people knew about the tunnels, but the int'l community didnt care and kept funding them. Funds meant for womens health, food, etc are controlled and withheld by Hamas. Hamas intentionally operates out of residential, medical and educational facilities. They use their people as human shields. They couldn't care less about the health and welfare of their people. Israel left Gaza in 2005. (And eqypt ruled gaza for 20 years before that) Gaza elected Hamas which operates like a mafia and oppresses their own people. Hamas led the Oct 7 attack and murder of over 1200 Israeli civilians and the hostages still held there. Hamas knew Israel would respond and Hamas is responsible for any lives lost due to the war they started. They don't want ceasefires and, they don't want peace, and they certainly dont care about womens rights or building a stable economy. They just want to destroy Israel. There is no other nation that would sit back and accept that.
OMG! How do we de-program you. Just lies coming out of your mouth.
Have you no decency? Children are dying because of your stupidity. Do you not read Haaretz?
I am a NP and I read multiple sources every day. Including haaretz, al Jazeera, etc. Perhaps you should make an effort to read multiple perspectives as well! We can all learn more that way rather than sitting in one's silo. Children in gaza are dying bc of Hamas actions. Hamas attacked on oct 7, knowing israel would respond and they refuse to return the hostages, intentionally hiding them in homes and in tunnels under civilian structures. Hamas is holding dead bodies hostage- that is inhumane. Hamas made choices that put their people at risk. Israel left gaza in 2005 and Hamas was elected. They chose militants to rule them. The wall was built after a cycle of terrorist bombings during the intifada. Would you do nothing when civilian buses are being blown up? There is a cycle of violence and a refusal to negotiate for peace. I grew up believing in a 2 state solution, but have finally come to realize that Palestinians have always rejected every effort for peace and will never accept Israel. The cycle is sad, but hamas and the plo must also assume responsibility for their complicity in this never ending cycle. Ypu cant only blame israel. Seeing the atrocities of Oct 7 and the point blank murder of jews, and the silence of the International community has been a wake up call for me. Seeing the lack of condemnation of the violence against Jewish women, children, and men. The acceptance of hate speech against Jews (not israel) should be cause for concern for all Americans. When anti Asian hate surfaced during covid, our nation galvanized when people said 'go back to your country,'. Those comments are now targeted toward american jews, often on college campuses, and people dont care. That is not ok. I am not stupid and I am actually a very decent person. Name calling and slogans are lazy, dangerous, and don't solve complex world problems.

We’ve been through this propaganda diarrhea a billion times by now.
But let’s recap it for the really bright ones who like to pretend that it hasn’t been refuted a billion times already, and who hide behind the pure evil of the actual Zionist movement (spoiler alert: it’s never been about establishing a peaceful state that would observe and respect the borders of its neighbors).
1. The universe didn’t begin on 10/7/2023. The atrocities committed by Israel and its founding fathers and mothers over the past 100 years or so easily amount to the greatest war crimes of the past 80 years. EASILY. And according to your logic of absolving blame for those who fight back, regardless the disproportionality, nothing that occurred on 10/7/2023 was unwarranted anyway.
I don’t feel that way because I condemn Hamas for its actions, but you don’t get to pick and choose. If the Palestinians in Gaza, over 70% of whom were not yet born or old enough to vote when Hamas stole its election two decades ago, should accept a death sentence on the basis of the atrocities committed by Hamas, does that mean that every Israelis should expect to have a death sentence hanging over their head on the basis of the atrocities committed by Israel, which are in plain sight for all to see?
2. What about the West Bank? What’s your justification for settlement expansion, violent land theft, apartheid administration of the law, and everything else that Israel continues to do in the West Bank, all in blatant violation of international law? Palestinians in the West Bank have been docile concentration campers for years, and they had nothing to do with 10/7/2023. And yet they suffer under systemic IDF and Israeli settler abuses daily.
How do you defend that? Does every country have a right to disregard internationally recognized borders, seize land and enable the stealing and destruction of land by its settlers, and then flout international law and U.N. resolutions? Or just Israel?
3. What about Israel’s blatant violations of international law in Lebanon and Syria? Look them up, I won’t do all the work for you. But just one, to get you started - explain how Israel, as the clear and irrefutable initiator of the 1967 war (don’t waste our time arguing that anyone other than Israel started that war), has spent the past 58 years refusing to return the Golan Heights to Syria, despite international law and U.N. resolutions requiring them to do so.
How do you defend that? Does every country have a right to start wars, seize land of strategic value, and then flout international law and U.N. resolutions? Or just Israel?
4. What about Israel’s blatant violations of international law in its preposterous “preemptive self-defense” doctrine? You know, the doctrine Israel cites to authorize itself to attack anyone, at any time, and for any reason it deems sufficient to invoke such a fake-ass “preemptive self-defense” policy. With U.S. funding, weaponry, and strategic support, of course.
How do you defend that? Does every country have a right to attack others on the basis that it *thinks* they may attack them soon? Or just Israel?
5. Israel is killing the innocent men, women, and children in Gaza. This is perhaps the most one-sided war in modern history, involving essentially unlimited U.S. bleeding edge weaponry and tech., along with open access to the U.S. treasury, vs. what? Piles of rubble?
The fact is that there’s barely any fight back, and you know it. Israel could be executing this “war” strategically without the civilian casualties, but they actively, intentionally choose not to. And that’s why Israel is solely to blame for the war crimes, the genocidal atrocities, and the murders of these individuals.
But wait - did you say that Israel killed the individuals in those bus bombings two decades ago because the monsters who committed those atrocities were just responding to Israeli attacks on the Palestinian communities? Israel killed those bus passengers?
You didn’t say it, but if we apply your logic, that must he how you feel, right?
6. The tunnels, the human shields, the hiding in schools and hospitals and churches and shelters - Israel has a documented history of making these claims after they commit atrocities and murder innocent, non-combatant civilians. But they never once produce a stitch of credible evidence to back up the claims. But that’s the beauty of propaganda. To butcher a phrase that fits these circumstances, false claims in the haze of “war” are 1/2 way around the world before the truth is even out of bed. Nobody - and I mean NOBODY - traffics in false claims like Israel.
And you know it’s true because you’ve never seen actual credible evidence of these claims either.
7. Israel left Gaza in 2005? Have you ever experienced life in the conditions that were left behind, a concentration camp with a 24/7 land, sea and air blockade. Try to fish to feed your family? Face the IDF executioner. Want to leave to escape the misery? How? Where?
I won’t get into Netanyahu and the Israeli government enthusiastically enabling and facilitating the funding of Hamas ensure that the two-state solution would never move forward.
I also won’t get into the fact that you only express worry and concern for anti-Semitism. Care about anyone else?
First of all, in case you have missed it, the f^cking constitutional rights of every American like me are being trampled and irreparably dismantled right now to combat the absolute nothingburger that is anti-Semitism in America. If anything, this constitutional crisis confirms that not only isn’t anti-Semitism a real issue to be addressed, but what does NEED to be addressed is why our government is willing to deprive 98% of us of our rights to assuage the 2% of us who don’t like loud knocks on library doors, having to walk an extra 17 feet to get to class, or having to hear upsetting things said about Israel. Grow TF up.
Second, you cannot even point to anything to support your false claim of “violence toward Jewish women, children, and men”. But I can point to Islamophobic and anti-Arab sentiment that is hundreds of times more concerning than anti-semitism in this country. Sentiment that HAS led to violence, like the targeted murder of a 6 year old Palestinian American boy, the targeted shootings (and paralysis) of college Arab American students, the targeted shooting shot at others for appearing to be Arabic, etc.
Literally the only thing you are right about is that Hamas sucks, and that some of the Palestinians share in the blame pie. But when 97 - 98% of that blame pie is ravenously demolished by Israel, you have some f^ucking chutzpah coming in here as a genocide is unfolding with this “what we really need to worry about right now are the Israelis and the Jewish Americans!” bullshit.
The Israelis and the Jewish Americans are going to be fine. But here’s an idea - try directing some of your concern to the innocent children being slaughtered every.single.day in Gaza. Just try that out, see if you can give that a go.
