Adolescence on Netflix

I’m still on episode 1 - pretty well into the processing at the police station - and neither Jamie nor the parents have asked who was murdered. It’s this an issue later? It’s just so strange - they’re not at all curious who’s been killed?

The collective lack of curiosity about the victim could be another example of the misogyny we all swim in. The well-intended female teacher totally overlooking the female detective. The male DCI reframing Katie as Jamie’s bully, when she knew he was a POS creep pouncing when he thought she was “low” because her nudes were shared. It goes on forever without beginning and without end. If it wasn’t Katie, there would be another humiliated and degraded girl “pursued” by Jamie at 14, 15, 16. The name and the girl herself and everything her life could’ve been never matter in the hubbub.

You just condoned it.

Women don’t need to be nice to creeps who won’t take a hint. No one should be murdered for “not being nice enough”. Gfy.

Wow, you sound mental. The kid asked her to go to a fair. Why does that make him a creep? No wonder teen boys don't want to date anymore. She had every right to reject him but she could have been kind about it. The world would be a better place if we were all a little bit kinder to each other. I was asked out all the time in HS. If I wasn't interested I was direct but kind about it. There is no reason to make someone feel bad.

I wondered that too. They said he was under arrest for murder but they never said who. Seems like an odd omission.

This show is horrendously bad.

I wouldn’t. It shows that talking back to adults and never answering questions / piss poor communicating is effective at getting your way.

Given, that is how our current president communicates, maybe good for ongoing conversation?

What didn't you like about it? I thought it was fantastic but I also have teenagers so it really resonated with me. I thought that the acting was incredible.

Right wingers are attacking the show and claim it’s “race flipping” by having a white teen murderer. (Lies, but I’m too tired to go over why for the hundredth time).

The incel signal went up and angry young men saw themselves in Jamie and are lashing out. Maybe one or two will feel shame and get help.

The show is brilliant.

In America, the majority of mass shooting in schools from the infamous Columbine massacre onwards have been perpetrated by young white men so the butt hurt right wingers can STFU about reverse racism.

Kid waited until she'd been shamed, participated in the shaming (he looked at her pics), and then thought he could pick her up because she was vulnerable... and you want us to think about HIS feelings?

The problem. You're part of it.

The one-shots are absolutely incredible. You're not paying attention.
