If the last of the top clubs leave GA, then it will certify itself as a 2nd tier league.

If they can somehow even the playing field, then I can see them increasing market share.

This is a ridiculous comment.

GA will be fine no matter how things play out.

ECNL and US Soccer aren't on the same page and boys ECNL is flailing. In the long term if MLSN and GA maintain a united front forcing clubs to go all in on MLSN and GA ECNL will be in trouble.

Although 90% of the commenters her are girl parents. In the real world girls soccer just isn't that important. Boys and men's soccer is.

Except it’s not when it comes to college placement and scholarships which is what the majority care about.

For youth clubs college placement is advertising that's it. They don't make any more or less money if players play in college.

What this means is to maximize the amount of money a youth club can make you need to have a large number of BOTH boys and girls teams. MLSN + GA would likely make more money than ECNL + ECNL depending on the area.(personal opinion)

You people are way overthinking this stuff. Clubs will have no problem filling their rosters. It doesn’t matter if the teams play in ECNL or MLSN or GA or any other new league that comes along. As long as the rosters are filled clubs make the same money. Unless league changes cause a whole lot of players to stop playing soccer, it will all be fine.

Ehh, results matter.

What are results? Clubs make the same money if a team is in one league or another, or whether their teams win or lose. From the club perspective filling rosters is the only result that matters.

You are looking at today...today yes they can fill rosters. But if the club isn't getting results will they continue to fill rosters? Yes, with bad players. And they will continue to lose. And then they will get removed from the league. You know that can happen right? They need to win. Plus no one likes to play for a serial loser...just think already. It's not rocket science.

There are clubs in the area that have been around 20, 30, even 50 years. As long as the number of kids wanting to play soccer remains, there will be kids filling rosters at these clubs. The names of leagues and even clubs could change but in the end it's the same number of soccer players and teams.

Those clubs are successful. You are arguing such a dumb point...that a business can be bad at what they do and exist. No, they can't. Many clubs have also dissolved over the last 50 years (I bet they weren't competitive and bad at what they do). Results 100% matter in this business like every other business. Welcome to the real world.

Why would 501c matter the same people get the same checks. The only difference is the club pays less taxes.

Soccer clubs are not really like every other business because there is very limited competition except at the very highest level teams. For the majority of the B,C,D,E teams people just go with the clubs that are closest to where they live and their friends play. Arlington, Loudoun, Bethesda, SYC, Alexandria will always be able to fill their rosters no matter how bad their top A teams perform. Soccer clubs are much more than just the top teams. As long as they can keep filling all their team rosters they will be successful.

ECNL can’t afford to lose any clubs right now. A lot on the line.

In practice, the change (if true) doesn't actually change anything.

Do you really think there's going to be a big influx of new GFR kids on Union teams and a big departure of BRYC kids from Unions teams?

So you think there's a large treasure trove of GFR EDP/RL players that never tried out for ECNL before that suddenly will now and displace the current/former BRYC ECNL players? Ask NVA how that GFR "untapped pipeline" worked out for them.....
