If you ask for a martini, it is assumed it is made with gin.
It is also assumed, that when you write sentences, that you use capital letters to start them and periods to end them.

You need to get out more. If you order a "martini" the bartender or waitress is going to immediately ask you vodka or gin, and if you have preference on brand. 9 in 10 martinis solid are vodka-based.
