Why so much WUSTL/WashU hate on DCUM?

Every elite school is overwhelmingly moderate to liberal in bias. Of course, conservatives exist, but few MAGA-heads are at elite schools. WashU isn’t LibertyU.

Consistently ranked in the Top 15 National Universities and Top 20 on USNEWS until this year due to the ranking methodology changes, and good weather.

Other than the lack of laymen's prestige and the location of St. Louis (which is invalid because it's actually in Clayton), why is it looked down upon on DCUM? There seems to be a lot of misinformation being spread, like a 40% acceptance rate ED1/ED2 which is comically fake and untrue.

My Senior DC with high stats from a competitive high school got rejected ED2 but got into UVA, VT, Purdue. Kids from Midwest & West Coast are dying to get into schools like UofChicago, Northwestern, Rice, Washu, ETC, but East coast seems to dislike WashU specfically.

It’s still in the middle of flyover country.

Ok, troll.

It isn't a heartland/coastal thing. California has MAGA areas as well as liberal ones, as does Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Illinois . . . you get the idea.

Important to know to avoid being surprised when you send your kid to a school in a MAGA region within a liberal state by accident.

Wash U is to Missouri as Emory is to Georgia. A blue enclave in a red state. The Northeast and New England have their pockets of MAGA too- even on college campuses.

I realize this is an old thread, but to people hate on WUStL? Honestly, I don't really think about it.

Georgia is a purple state, Atlanta is a metropolis. St.Louis is a fly over in comparison.

Laws are decided at the state level. The state also matters.

+1

My kids have decided no red states.

I used to work in STL and I find the whole area is just gross. Least favorite US city.

Anecdotally, the people from UWSTL that I know are all super bright but all a little off. Humorless. So the school has a weird vibe for me.

GA is a purple state while MO is far redder. You have Atlanta and Savannah and other suburbs that are very blue.

GA has two democrat senators and Trump barely won the state.

We will visit WashU this month to find out. College list comprises mostly NE schools, but also includes WashU, Case Western, and Emory. Premed is as hard as it's. These are excellent premed friendly schools.

It's not hate. They barely know it exists.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is well respected particularly for engineering and architecture and it is by far the hardest cal state to get into. It is in a maga area plus it is big in agriculture studies and attracts many maga rural students. For public universities in CA it is probably the whitest and one of the more conservative (as far as CA goes) schools.
