Then call a spade a spade. He’s dumb.
He’s no Kendrick Lamar.
They tried to make this be that, but it was never meant to be.
Can’t wait to see him what they choose to showcase next year.

It's really weird to me that people don't realize that Bad Bunny has been like, the most popular artist by far, by FAR, for many years at this point. Nothing to do with ICE, or being "propped up" because of "DEI". Like it's been multiple multiple years that he has been epically popular. And I say this as the person who posted a few pages back about not recognizing any of his songs, because I never hear them on the radio stations I prefer, but even I, an out of the loop middle aged mom, have heard of him because he is A-list famous. It's like our parents generation claiming they have no idea who Tom Cruise or Julia Roberts are and act surprised and offended that people prefer to see them instead of a Judy Garland movie. Like.... it's ok for it not to be your thing, or to prefer your own generation's songs, but it's quite another to be 10000% culturally out of the loop

People seem to not realize that Bad bunny was in the superbowl half time show 5 years ago with Shakira and J Lo.

He’s not mainstream. They keep trying to push him as such with the recent commercials, snl and Super Bowl. But it’s not that great of music, singing, nor unique.

He’s been the number one download on Spotify for 3 of the last 5 years and won the Grammy for Album of the Year this year.

You can think whatever you want but your opinions mean nothing in the face of sales and industry recognition by people who matter.

Popular doesn’t = good. It just means popular. Crocs are popular.

He has 6 grammys including Album of the Year from last week, which are industry awards from people who matter. But people have written this over and over, and you just want to spew ignorant bile all over this forum.

It can run stats on downloads but so what. People have 1000s of downloads in their personal cloud. And they rarely cull out what they no longer listen to.

You obviously don’t understand how Spotify works. Subscribers pay Spotify. Spotify pays artists. Would you like to explain how enormous sold out tours are meaningless? Did Bad Bunny find $100M or so under his sofa cushions? Are you really this ignorant?

It’s bizarre how some of you are threatened by this very successful artist. If you don’t like his music, don’t listen. But pretending he’s not enormously popular and successful is kind of disturbing.

+1 People on DCUM say "No one has heard of him." "No one likes him." "No one understands him singing in Spanish."
-He won Grammy Album of the Year last week.
-He has 15 top 10 hits.
-He has been the top download on Spotify for several years.
-He sells out all his concerts.
And he just turned 30 years old. He's a star, if you haven't been living under a rock.

+2 He's won five other Grammies besides the one last week. But yeah, sure, because "you've never heard of him," he doesn't exist.

This. And with 135 million viewers for his halftime show, Bad Bunny has the most watched Super Bowl show in history. Turning Point USA had 4% of his viewers for their Alternative Halftime Show with lipsyncing Kid Rock.

And what you deem “good” doesnt make it good either. It just means you probably have lousy taste.

You seemed threatened from anyone offering an opinion that differs from you. There will be millions and millions who think Bad Bunny is not talented, has a poor voice, looks disgusting, and jives in inappropriate manners. Everyone has their opinion.

A hero? He’s an entertainer.

The choices he made to lead, to highlight family, cultures, unity- that’s the hero we need right now.
This sounds like a bot. It’s so over-the-top.

I don’t care for him. But I am old. I like oldies from the 80s and 90s.

But I’m glad he had a great audience at the superbowl and so many people learned about him.

+1 he was interviewed on TV and sounded like a nit-wit

That you don't understand how Spotify works is not an opinion. It's a fact. Spotify is a direct measure of an artist's market appeal.
That Bad Bunny is one of the most popular artists on the planet is not an opinion, it's a fact.

Many people have posted dozens of statistics of industry awards, revenue earned, millions of downloads, concerts sold out, and you just keep repeating over and over again that you don't like him, that no one likes him. Which is probably because you're a badly programmed bot.

That's your opinion. I disagree. I have heard him interviewed and think he's super-sharp. He's one of the top music stars today, and he's not a nepo baby. You don't get to these levels without having a level of brilliance and drive.

I like Bad Bunny. I like music from the 80's and 90's. And the 50's, 60's, and 70's. And classical music. And opera.

I just like music - pretty much every genre. Different sounds suit different moods and moments.

Some people have very particular interests in music. And others like myself, have wider, broader interests in sounds and rhythms.

Same! I enjoy live classic orchestra music and opera, Indian sitar, classic rock, rap, hip-hop, R&B, and bad bunny. I’m not educated in music, just love anything that makes me feel and/or move. Bad Bunny’s halftime show made me emotional.

I probably wouldn't go buy one of his albums, but the halftime show was super fun and then I teared up a little at the end. It was a great concept and a great show.

Is Bunny topping the charts because big in USA but he's also huge in Central / South America and no one else is?
