Tons of famous American rappers and hop hop artists have terrible voices and songs. And are very popular for reasons I don’t understand. This has nothing to do with language. You don’t need to understand everything.

Maybe try getting glasses? That might help.

GenX here. I really like the layering and blending of different music and instruments he uses. It’s interesting, like Queen or The Who just a different style.

In contrast, I think Taylor Swift is really boring and one note.

Let’s start out with artists that you like. Who are some of your favorites?
If your list includes Kid Rock or Bob Dylan, I probably can’t explain why Bad Bunny is one of the top entertainers in the world.

I will say that if you like to dance, that will give you more than a hint.

You don't always have to enjoy someone's talent to respect or appreciate it it. For example, I think many of Lil Wayne's lyrics are absolutely brilliant. I don't like the topics of his songs necessarily, and his voice is not exactly melodious. But he's genius.

It looked like he kept grabbing his crotch? The girls were in skimpy shorts and twerking? His Spanish to me sounded indecipherable so that I couldn't understand what he was singing.

I had to read social media to understand what he was singing. The younger folks may like him but I was unimpressed. I'm old and I'm square. I think the girls should show more dignity and self respect.I think the same of cheerleaders in professional football with their skimpy outfits.

How is he different than Pitbull? Just another Latin cross-over rapper.

Would he have this 5-sevonds of fame if it weren't for ICE making headlines?

Just watch his NPR Tiny Desk concert and try not to be a fan. I dare you.

Like you are five? Different people like different things. I know you like Batman, but he likes Spiderman and that’s OK. What’s not OK is excluding people because they like different things. Please tell Wesley you are sorry you said he couldn’t come to you Birthday party because of his Spider-Man shirt.

No one is thinking about ‘whitey.’ Trust me.

Are you 5? Presumably not if you’re posting here. Did you read the reviews of his work and his Super Bowl performance from newspapers and magazines? Did you not understand them?

OP, here's a panegyric in the NYT (gift article):

I don't like pop music at all, but I respect any artist trying to weave serious socio-political messaging into their art.

He connected himself to the Kardashians. Dated one of the sisters - it helps a lot with fame.

Are you living under a rock? He got the Grammy Album of the year award last week and he’s been the top download on Spotify and other streaming media for 3 out of the last 5 years.

But since you want to be explained to as if you are 5, I doubt you can retain this info anyway. Might as well talk to the rock you’re living under.
