Switching to Catholic school- tips?

We are also leaving this year due to newer unqualified teachers who waste class time because they can’t manage the class and get off topic discussing sports and unrelated topics. The class sizes have increased to 22-24 students which adds to the disorganization. Religion, Grammar and reading were thoroughly taught this year but minimal science and social studies. Math instruction was poor and only half the workbook is complete (we used online instruction to supplement). We’re tutoring DC over the summer to catch up in math and science.

+1. As someone also considering Catholic, would be helpful to know the names of the schools that should be avoided.

Most are this way at the elementary level. Slick marketing and promises of academic rigor and discipline. Then you get in and find the academics are missing. Plenty of busy work and very little teaching.

This is not true. There are at least three schools within a span of 10 miles that we considered that are all academically strong. Very little teaching? LOL you can see that this is an anti-Catholic troll.

OP my kid switched from public to Catholic for HS and is graduating with honors from a top 20 college this coming weekend. Kids who attend Catholic schools by and large do extremely well...especially with the worrisome climate in public schools these days.

OP here, thanks for this. i knew when i posted this there would be some of the usual Catholic bashing, so i am ignoring those posters. I appreciate your input and the tips i have gotten.

Just don’t be LGBTQ or a single parent and you’ll be okay.

I'm a single parent and we've had a great experience at our Catholic school.
