I get that. I’m just saying there’s so much talk about the serious overcrowding issues at every other school in the boundary study except Whitman. So deal with those and leave Whitman alone. Or shift some kids TO Whitman instead of away from it

I'm so sorry the world doesn't revolve around your greedy a$$ and the value of your home. Womp womp.

I Agree Whitman's problem isn't overcrowding it's the neverending racial issues that seem connected to the lack of diversity. I would also argue Whitman is in desperate need of greater racial and socioeconomic diversity.

Whitman has diversity issue. Hopefully, we get some diversity with boundary change.

Whitman lacks diversity. That problem needs to be fixed otherwise we will keep having issues at Whitman.

Maybe, but the boundary study isn't going to 'fix' diversity at Whitman. Most likely Whitman ends up slightly less white and with a slightly higher FARMS rate.

That would be a start. I don't expect t hem to do much aside from adjusting the edges of some boundaries.

You moved to a rich area without diversity and then complain about it?

Mostly they are except for the math acceleration only offered at affluent schools.

This canard again?

They're not "messing" with it. They're including it in a boundary study for possible boundary changes.

Can anyone give a quick overview re what might happen with Takoma park schools? Any likelihood that TPMS or Blair boundaries will change for homes in Takoma Park.

I doubt TPMS boundaries will change. But Blair's are going to need to be trimmed back to relieve it from being 600ish students over capacity. No one knows where they will make the changes.

Given that Blair is already fairly far from Takoma Park and all the other high schools are further, it seems unlikely that any changes to the Blair boundary would impact TKPK. On the other hand there are other middle schools relatively close by.

Northwood and Woodward will add a combined 2900ish HS seats, so Blair will likely see changes to remove some of the 700 students they project over capacity in the CIP. Where those changes will be is anyone's guess.

TPMS already has 300 extra seats. Almost all the DCC middle schools have some capacity so probably not too much moving around there, and probably not from TPMS, unless they're serious about rearranging deck chairs.

What if MCPS move the SMAC magnet and CAP from Blair Northwood, it would take 600+ students from Blair.

These programs are woven into the fabric of that school, so it's not a practical choice. It makes more sense to adjust the boundary on the edges near Northwood and possibly Einsten by creating space there with Woodward.
