Seems... a little casual?

I suspect this is a dress, yes casual and stretchy and ruffly and cheap looking for a White House visit. Is Linda McMahon the only Republican woman wearing suits anymore?
Someone asked who else it was in the picture: https://miamiherald.typepad.com/nakedpolitics/2018/01/pam-bondi-casey-desantis-attend-white-house-womens-symposium.html

So, Casey DeSantis is 7 months pregnant here, but sure, go ahead and mock her dress. God, you people are the absolute worst.

What does her being pregnant have to do with anything? I wore fashionable, professional attire throughout my pregnancy. I was definitely not wearing t-shirts/stretchy dresses to court.

Right, I'm sure you were just picture perfect during your pregnancy. In your mind, at least.

I think she’s probably working with a stylist now, which is smart.

She has Sicilian roots — jersey girls that are eye-talian Americans also have similar aesthetics

I was thinking she was maybe Cuban this whole time!

I am into her weird Disney princess style. She looks like she is having fun in some of these pictures at least.

Same, I’m honestly into it. It’s such a departure from all the previous presidential/candidate spouses in my lifetime. I hope she doesn’t give it up and start dressing all DC sedate if DeSantis gets elected. Because I feel like his administration would be a dumpster fire so her adult Disney aesthetic would at least be good for the memes.

The same stylist who works with these ladies

These ladies, that is

And you know what, maybe the campiness is growing on me. OK, I don't want to live in Gilead and but maybe having a lil princess cosplayer to look at isn't the worst.

Maybe I’ve missed it somewhere, but she’s the 2023 version a Stepford Wife.

Additionally, she is a public figure, living off of public dollars, and yet was the spearhead of the God wants Ron Desantis to be Governor ad.

She’s very much a part of her husband’s political machine and deserves as much scrutiny as him.

I don't think elbow-length white gloves are appropriate daytime wear?

They are because of chemo. Just stop, bully

Sleeves are always an option for her instead of inappropriate formal gowns during daytime business functions.

Yeah, she has the veneer of polish that a bit of money can impart, but scratch the surface and she's LMC all the way.

As a Democrat, having come from a LMC background isn’t the insult you seem to think it is.

And this is the problem with being catty about appearances because you think it's allowed because you don't like someone.

Inevitably you end up unwittingly offending or insulting and alienating people around you who you think are on your side.

For instance, I'm fair skinned and have ditched girls who make comments about other girls looking too pasty. Not a direct comment to me, but enough to know that people who spend time tearing others down over appearances aren't helping me feel good.

Well then perhaps a different thread would be more to your liking! We have a fine tradition of inspecting and critiquing the clothes of political figures here, and some of us enjoy it even if not every comment is one we'd endorse.

I also strongly disapprove of weird classism (I have no idea Disney Evita's family background and think more of people who didn't start on third base, anyway). But I can still appreciate a good thread of weird fashion on public figures, and critiquing the clothes themselves and how they fit in with the figure's image and self-conception.

Love the expressions on the people around her. They look thrilled, just thrilled, to be there.

I’m just glad she’s getting a second wear out of that bridesmaid’s dress.

LOL. Read the numerous posts on how people don’t know how to dress themselves since they worked from home during Covid. Obviously, they have been living under a rock and never ventured out to the local Starbucks. To my eyes, Mrs. DeSantis’ fashion choices skew southern Belle. Not my choice, but not a crime.

She’s playing to the GOP audience. She has a role. She gets it.

Spouses of politicians should not be targeted unless they meddle.

The correct target is GINNY THOMAS. Not her size, her dress, her looks. Just her unacceptable meddling.

This is the fashion forum, the purpose of which is to comment on fashion seen in media, among other things. If you don't want your outfit discussed, don't let the press photograph you in it.

What are they doing there?? Can anyone post a clearer pic? It looks like it could be a pretty suit.

Puddin Fingers Ron and Evita took a vacation to Japan to try to get some foreign relations cred. You know, while still pretending he hasn't decided whether he's running for president or not because under Florida law you have to resign your current office if you are running.

It's a weird suit on her.
