For one thing, there’s intelligence value in following it to understand what China’s intelligence priorities (and intelligence gaps) are.

Then surely China deserves the same opportunity when we invade their skies, right?

“There’s no way the (Chinese Communist Party) would allow a balloon like this to fly over the Chinese heartland,” Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner tweeted Friday.

Warner was referring to the suspected surveillance balloon floating over the continental United States, which the Pentagon has said is currently too dangerous to shoot down.

“China’s aggressive behavior is a violation of international norms and shows a reckless disregard for the safety of American citizens," Warner added.

Time for Warner to step up, huge void and we need him in the National spotlight

He’d be disowned by his party bosses if he did anything.

It's not just a Chinese flying balloon. It is a spy balloon. In the US airspace.
And, you think this is not something to worry about?

"The official said the current flight path would carry the balloon over a number of sensitive sites, but did not give details. Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana is home to 150 intercontinental ballistic missile silos."

I hate to tell you this but Trump already gave away everything important in terms of National security.

Republicans will have Russia on the ground owning the US with China in 2025-2026. Keep voting for them people this is where we are headed. Don't think it can happen HAHAHAHAHA Look at the House of Representatives.... shit show

Trump gave everything to China? I thought Russia, no?

Because it's a bubble in the wind, it can't steer and our wind models show it blowing out into the Atlantic somewhere south of Virginia by the end of the week.

I think, sadly, that nowadays Randy Quaid would totally sign up! Is he still a mess?

Meanwhile, I'm sure it transmitting a bunch of data back to China..

A quick attempt at humor- are we sure this is actually a weather/spy balloon? That's the same excuse they used at Roswell 80 years ago.

Did you not read that the US military is actively moving sensitive equipment away from the flight path and using other countermeasures to prevent data collection? Do you think everyone is just letting sensitive info to be gathered?

Remember.... this is the "most transparent administration" in history.

They are also liars.

Reports indicate that yes, it can steer.

Does anyone think that maybe the balloon has little actual intelligence value and was put up just to foment more domestic political division (as evidenced by this thread)?

We certainly know politicians have been illegally getting Chinese cash for decades.
