I would not say--after watching this World Cup--that 2 down means they'll come home. What would make me say that is that the US isn't shooting often enough. So, I agree with you but for different reasons. If the US gets it together at the half, they could possibly still win. Yet they won't win if they keep on the way they are. They need to shoot from 15-20 feet out. So far, I haven't seen them shoot unless they are really close. |

Yeah - rooting for the socceroos as the underdogs. We thought US had some really good plays in match against Netherlands. That double save by goalie in second half was amazing. They scored a goal against a strong team with a much longer dedication to soccer as one of main national sports. Let’s hope US team is boosted in the next Cup by home team advantage. |

I just checked the match stats and US team was even more impressive than I thought. They fought really hard and deserve credit. Winning is not everything - fighting hard with heart and improving is what matters. The skill level will increase over time, Shots at goals Neth- 11, US 17 Shots on target Neth - 6, US 8 Possession of ball - Neth - 41%, US 59% Passes Neth - 414, US 569 The Stars and Stripes played really hard. |
