But is it though? Her resume is actually quite thin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lea_Michele_credits |

NP - that was 20 years ago. She hasn’t been on Broadway since. |
| I thought they should have given the role to Julie Benko. Lea is too polarizing. |
Because she was doing TV. I’m no fan of Lea Michele but this line of criticism is bonkers. Her Broadway bonafides are solid. Hate her for being a try-hard or a diva, sure, but for not having done Broadway, whut? |
She’s done broadway, but not with any depth. A small handful of roles. Spring Awakening? Please. |
Julie Benko is amazing in the role and IA, but she doesn't have the name recognition that Lea Michele has. The show thought they were getting that with Beanie but, yeah. The show is bleeding money and from what my insider friend told me, would be lucky to make it to the end of Beanie's run when her final date was announced as September. Attendance has been below 60% and they haven't been in the black at all. Just the leak about Lea Michele taking over caused ticket sales for post-September 6 to surge and once the official announcement came out, they surged even more. I looked at tickets for September 6 when it was just a rumor and they were still in the $69 range. Once it was announced, $500 was the cheapest I saw. |
Huge 2nd. |
She originated the role, though. Do you not understand the work that goes into that? The time and dedication? She started working with the producers to get it to Broadway in '98 and it didn't debut until 2006. She then did 2 years of shows in the role, too. |

This Lea recast is probably not gonna go well. She is not even a real Jew.
Where are Shoshana and Idina when you need them? Those b&tches can sing the shit out of Funny Girl. |
| “Beanie” is a stupid name. |
Of course I do. That still doesn't mean she has deep B'way chops. |
It's a nickname. Her given name is Elizabeth. |
Except she does have Broadway chops. |
You had to go there. Guess Beanie should only try out for non-Gentile roles.
