I saw the show twice. Beanie can’t hack it. The rest of the cast is uneven and most pretty meh. There’s next to no chemistry between Fanny & Nick. The best thing about the show is the choreography and even that isn’t *that* strong. Unfortunately I’m not sure Lea Michele is going to save the show. Her live public performance of Parade at the Tony’s in 2012 was bad. There will be a slight bump in glee fans and people who are curious about her performance but I don’t see this show running out a full year on that.
Agree, don't think Michele can save it. Good voice but a weak actor with no charm.
Broadway is her medium, though. And where a TV camera can portray an actor one way, seeing someone live on stage can be another thing altogether. Hopefully, Lea's big voice will carry her through this production.
But is it though? Her resume is actually quite thin. What are you talking about? She originated the role of Wendla in Spring Awakening. Where have you been? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lea_Michele_credits

NP - that was 20 years ago. She hasn’t been on Broadway since.
Because she was doing TV. I’m no fan of Lea Michele but this line of criticism is bonkers. Her Broadway bonafides are solid. Hate her for being a try-hard or a diva, sure, but for not having done Broadway, whut?
She’s done broadway, but not with any depth. A small handful of roles. Spring Awakening? Please.
She originated the role, though. Do you not understand the work that goes into that? The time and dedication? She started working with the producers to get it to Broadway in '98 and it didn't debut until 2006. She then did 2 years of shows in the role, too.
