That isn't just controversial, it's so ignorant. I have ADHD. Damn, I wished I had been diagnosed in my youth and gotten proper treatment. My life is night/day with treatment.

PP here you quoted. How is it ignorant? Have they decided definitively the cause of ADHD? And figured out why it’s prevalence is increasing so much? I’m not saying it isn’t real. I work every single day with ADHD kids - I am a resource aid at an elementary school. It is very much real. And sadly for some of these kids no amount of prompts and scaffolding and text to type and read aloud testing is going to make a difference. Some kids are success stories don’t get me wrong, but some of these kids I’m not even sure how they will graduate.

I’m sick that you are so judgmental of kids and parents and you work in a school. Read some books.

Take it up with your public school. They do t pay me enough to research your kid in my free time. Every single kid I work with has a massive screen addition. Massive. And is highly accustomed to bribes in order to comply on anything.

Well, I do believe that because of poor pay, you are woefully underqualified for the position you have. I don't even think that's controversial.

I think they are social constructed. Made up.
I don't think we have tolerance in American society for eccentricities.

I think the American preschool and elementary school model of max time indoors, minimal to no recess/outdoor time is directly correlated to the increasing diagnosis of Attention issues.

It’s drivel, I get it’s enjoyable but so is the Internet. People use it to escape just like reading the internet.

Any argument you can make for reading non-fiction you can say the same about surfing the net.

People who get their ego from grammar and spelling are the same people that are having a heart attack reading my opinion.

Do you mean fiction?

Lol yes

So you believe that sitting down and reading Hamlet is the same as scrolling through TikTok?

OK.

😂😂😂😂

Yeah not a controversial argument so much as completely unconvincing …

Hamlet is a play that was never meant to be read. It was meant to be performed and watched.

Next.

How do you think one learns the lines? Next. I read Shakespeare all the time, specifically "Hamlet" in winter, "Much Ado About Nothing" in the spring, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in summer, and "Macbeth" in the fall. I have seen all of these plays more than once, some as operas, and have been in two of them. And I still love the experience of reading them.

Care to share your well-thought-out solution? I'm sure you'd be wealthier than Elon if you ever share it with the rest of us mortals.

NP - ending corn subsidies would be a good first step.

Dakota Johnson isn't the least bit sexy and her so-called acting in 50 Shades was horrible an d unconvincing.
Also, that movie was idiotic made no sense. It's not how kinky people behave or play at all.

How is that relevant?

For someone who can't distinguish between fiction and non-fiction, you're really going to the mattresses for this historically bad take. Maybe you should gracefully retire.

Shakespeare didn’t even think hamlet should be read but you know better.

Gracefully retire

Oh for sure. My husband is the breadwinner but has crappy health insurance so I’m here for that and summers/holiday breaks with my kids. But I spend way more time day to day with these kids than their actual Sped teachers do. And I’m telling you that all of the rewards charts and behavior systems aren’t doing a darn thing for most of them. And at least in our district many of the supports they are getting now will vanish starting in 6th grade. Considering many of them won’t write their name on their paper until I’ve told them to for the 5th time, I’m not sure how that’s going to go in middle school.

50 shades is a movie that glorifies abuse who cares about the acting.

We should altogether stop paying farmers to not farm and let them get their food away for free

And, you know, allowing doctors to tell patients they need to lose weight.

Also - being explicit that while everyone should be comfortable in their skin, bodies are really not intended to carry too much or too little weight. We need to be able to say this very clearly and directly.

How do you explain how many more kids have it today? It is SO many more kids and not just because of additional diagnoses. It has to be environmental somehow.

Because it's being diagnosed more. Because the criteria have changed. Because some parents want a quick fix and medication for their kids. I know several mothers who have specifically asked drs for meds and an ADD evaluation for their kids.

No it’s because ADHD people are sexier, fun, romantic and great in the sac. Therefore there are more adhd children.

+100. I don't wish them ill, but it is nuts how society is expected to reorganize itself and its language to accommodate gender dysphoria.

Exactly it should go back to Being structured around misogyny.
