$7/gallon gas is coming

Russia benefits from high oil prices. If we drill here and produce enough gas and oil for Europe at rock bottom prices then Russia will be broke and out of money.

Let's be honest. High oil prices is why Russia is invading Ukraine.

Biden will never do that. Can't anger the far left part of his base.

Finally that posted actually lives in the DCUM area. Gas is in the low to mid $3 range in Rockville too.

Gas should get more expensive. Good. Let the people buying these ridiculous oversized SUVs and trucks that are a danger to every other road user internalize some of the consequences of their own decisions for a while.

Just think, after a few more years of delays and tens of billions invested, you might be able to take a train from Merced to Bakersfield CA.

Russia and the Soviet Union build the most vast, expansive railway system in the world. And capitalist, innovative America can’t do it for jack shat.

Because a collectivist economic model works for everyone equally. A capitalist economic model works only for the 1%. If you want a system that works for everyone, then work to smash capitalism.

This is silly. Russia has a great railroad because a good chuck of its people don't have food or enough food. They also don't have much of what we have. This is true in the old USSR and it is true now. But really admire that railroad.

Capitalism works for 90% of the people. Not 1%. We need to do more for the bottom 10%.

The Russian railroad was built to transport troops and supplies. It's also one of the main reasons we built out the US highway system after WW2.

rust belt turning on him, hard.

Outside of elite coastal circles, biden admin officials cannot show their faces.

The rust belt populace is not turning on Biden because of the price of gas. They never voted for him in the first place, so they can't turn on him now. They take their cues from Tucker Carlson and Alex Jones, and will believe any lie about Biden, Democrats, and moderate Republicans. If it wasn't the price of gas, it would be something else. America's hard right is reaping the whirlwind with their disingenuous propaganda, and it's sad to see so many suckers buy into it.

They don’t have any positive ideas, just that anything liberal is bad.

Expensive gas wouldn't be such a problem if we had renewable energy, freight rail, and mass public transportation in America. But corporations purchased Republicans who convinced poor Americans that all those things were a communist takeover, and here we are: a backwards country with declining infrastructure dependent on burning ancient sludge that poisons our air and water.

I hope gas goes to $20/gallon. I don't want our people to suffer, but I am convinced that our country won't make better transportation choices unless we absolutely must.

This is the mindset of the Biden administration and the Democrats in general. Most will not say it out loud, but they are secretly happy with the price increases.

Biden, et al, will start to blame the high prices on the Ukraine crisis, but we know better.

The truth is that the left can scream about renewables and EVs all they want.... but our country is nowhere near ready to do away with oil and gas. As prices increase - and they will increase even more - the American people will blame Biden and the Democrats. Biden declared war on oil and gas on his first day in office. They deserve all the blame.

And you can enjoy the political consequences of much higher energy prices.

Let's put it to a vote.

Narrow-minded anyone?
If gas prices increase all prices are going up! unless you walk to CA to buy your vegan diet products.

Again, you are not just owning the rednecks here. Price of oil gets incorporated into anything that gets shipped (which is just about everything). Wait until you try to buy airplane tickets for that European vacation this summer.

Higher oil prices will hurt everybody.

An oil tanker left Russian port yesterday destined for the eastern seaboard of the USA. That’s about $60 million worth of oil Americans will pay Russia for. Last year Russia was the second largest importer of oil to the USA. We’re huffing and puffing about sanctions and Nordstream 2 but there isn’t a single politician right now even whispering about actually hitting Russia where it hurts economically because it would cause a ton of pain here in the USA.
