Good picks... but really, like I'm gonna go to the Palm to get some fries? Best fries in my opinion are at the Amsterdam Falafel Shop in Adams Morgan. They are double fried like the kind you find in Europe and they even have various types of mayo for dipping. Damn good falafel too!

Honestly, I find it difficult to get the "best of" anything in the DC area. Best pizza is in New Haven, CT; best lobster is in Maine; for crabs we go to the Eastern Shore; haven't found any decent Chinese or Thai around here, unless my Chinese friend is cooking; impossible to find good Mexican food. Ravi Kebab has Pakastani food, but I haven't found good Indian, unless you count Rasika and I have no idea why people lie Five Guys. I can't stomach that much grease.

Best Bread Pudding, the little fountain cafe in Adams Morgan, the rest of the food ranges from ho-hum to OK, but that bread pudding is the best dessert I have ever had. Ever.

I admit that the ice cream situation in DC is sad but I am happy to say that there is good ice cream at York Castle-- a place up Rockville Pike (where it's actually Hungerford Drive), next to where Cameron's Seafood is now (which is different from the place in Silver Spring).

All you PPs who claim the ice cream situation in DC is sad, I dare you to try Max's Best and especially Tropical. (I already posted them.) They both make their own. Tropical has Guinness ice cream. Mmmm....

I live in walking distance of tropical ice cream (formerly York castle) on Georgia, and honestly, I think it's awful. I would almost rather go to coldstone than walk to tropical, and that's saying alit because I think coldstone is the worst.

?? It's been Tropical for at least ten years. It's not a chain. It's owned by a Jamaican (I think) woman. Guiness ice cream is the best....
