Private & Independent Schools

I believe the announcement was made yesterday, the school will look for a year to find a permanent replacement. Not sure if he's going to stay in place in the mean time or if there will be an interim head (I suspect he will remain until replacement found).

| annoucement was several days ago. |
| Is it just retirement or is he going to be with another school? |
|
He has been there since 1978. Whether it is retirement, or moving on, he has been a gem, and if he wants to pursue any of the other activities (teaching, writing, advising underserved areas) he should feel free to do so.

| Finally. That man is awful. |
| How so? Will he leave at the end of this school year? |
|
After 2012.
Opinion of 22:52 is just that. |
| Agreed, PP. He's done a lot for the school. Hopefully he will enjoy his retirement -- sure deserves it. A change is not a bad thing for the school either after such a long time, no matter how successful he's been. |
| Handoff in June 2012 |
| Good riddance. |
| The word that was told to me was "resign" not "retire." Wondering what the official word is. |
| Official word is definitely retire. |
| Good riddance. Pretentious bureaucrat. |
|
Bureaucrat? Really?
He is neither pretentious nor a bureaucrat, but if such bitterness is necessary to someone who teaches at the graduate level, writes for journals and fiction as well as spend spare time advising public schools, then I'll take pretentious 9 days out of 8 every week. |
| We did not accept at Sidwell because of the vibe he in part created... |
