You obviously choose to buy into rumors. (Mostly because it happens to align with your agenda) I don't. |
Correct there has been zero public statements on this subject other than by ECNL leadership during a podcast. |
So the ECNL president and US club member saying it’s more likely to happen than not. Is me buying into rumors? If this was only speculated by random parents only I’d agree with you and say these people are nuts. I have 2 kids playing soccer birthday December and June one will benefit one will not, I have no “agenda”? |
There’s nothing to say at this point? Nothing is official but to say comments about what’s going on don’t matter is just strange. |
| Its being discussed. Our coaches brought it up this past week at are club. |
At this point everyone knows it’s being discussed. Will it really happen? And who can give the best argument is the question. |
It's not being discussed by anyone other than ECNL leadership. Will they be able to convince other leagues to make the switch? Remains to be seen. |
😂 so it goes from a twitter poster who youth representative for two soccer orgs (a volunteer position for HS and college kids interested in sports leadership), to “working for both orgs”, to “a board member.” That kid must be either mad skilled, or mad connected to get so many promotions in a week. |
This is right. And nobody knows what “discussed” means either. Some bros spitballing probability on a podcast is very low stakes. While I’ve definately been on boards where things were run by the seat of the pants and can see that being the case. I have a hard time believing USClub and US Soccer will make a change on a whim from ECNL. |
Here is what they said in reference to the post on X about it being voted on. But you’re correct he does volunteer for USYS and USSF. I was just talking about this with a club board member yesterday and the impact it would have on the soccer landscape. It would be an interesting move as most kids are not going to be called for international duty and this aligns well with the NCAA. |
Also I have no idea what you’re referencing? It’s definitely an adult? But yes he is a USSF Youth council member and educative secretary for USYS. |
Thanks for pulling the post. Like PP was saying, that is pretty clearly 2nd hand and “I know a guy” talk. Regardless of the role, there is just no context beyond “we were chatting about…” - the context could be the totally insane parent buzzing about this topic. Or it could have been “our competition committee just wrapped up an 18m study on this” - nobody knows from that tweet. So it’s still just buzz and innuendo that people fill in gaps with their preconceptions and desires. |

The idea that “it’s happening” “for sure” and not a single ECNL club seems to be getting ahead of the “100% happening” change to SY, despite the supposed absurd level of “coaches” and “technical directors” and “IT guys” and “board members” who are professing the sure thing behind the scenes is probably the biggest signal that ECNL probably is at the floating an idea vs making a change stage.

Yep. guy put it in the air on the podcast to get people to join in on the talk. |

What people are not getting is that this change would be a big deal. Even if there is preliminary approval in November (which I doubt) there would need to be six months of more of work to plan for it. Rules, faqs, process, directions to the clubs. That would be a six to nine month process. Then there would be final appoval. So even fast tracked it will not be in place for next year. This is not a rando soccer club that can just change everything on the fly. This (both ECNL asnd its governing boards) is a corporate entity that follows process and procedures. This is a long way from done.
I doubt it will ever get done as the votes are not there. Could ECNL something on its own? Sure but they will not. They need to act as mostly one or the next time they want something they will not get it. |
