We're looking to spend under $3200/mo for a 4br that is within a mile from the metro. We prefer a TH or SFH over condos and apartments. We love walking, especially with the LOs, so we would love being close to trails or at least having enjoyable walks around the neighborhood.
Any neighboorhood suggestions? |
I doubt this exists, unless you want a really dumpy part of Vienna or you are putting down $300K |
If you are renting, look in Cameron station. I rent a 3 bedroom 3 level townhone for $3000/month. Community has regular shuttle to metro. Pool, small fitness center, restaurants, coffe shop, playgrounds, green spaces. Bordered by two parks and nice run/bike trail. I saw a very large townhome for rent for $3500. Depending on the size, you can get smaller for $2800. We love it there. |
How long are you going to be staying in the area? The Metro opens to Wiehle Avenue in a couple of years and if you can put up with a year or two of driving, it might be worthwhile to look around Silver Line sites.
Also -- not all 3BR places are made equal; some houses have large rooms in the basement that could serve as a 4th BR. |
Op here. Thanks so much for the responses!
We're not sure how long we'll be in DC so we're looking for just a 1yr lease to tide us over. If we're still in DC, we'll probably look to buy so thank you for the silver line suggestion! We'll consider a 3br + den/rec room. We really just need a 3br with a small office of any sort since I work mostly from home. I'd never heard of Cameron Station! I'll keep an eye out. Pls keep the suggestions coming! |
Pp here - Cameron station is in Alexandria. Zip code 22304. We really love it. Drive through it over the weekend. |
Thanks so much! We might just do that... |
Any other suggestions? |
Kingstowne, 22315 |
The Oakton area has some really nice townhome developments and it's convenient to Vienna Metro. The W&OD trail (a fabulous 40-mile walking/biking trail) is nearby. Schools are great in that area too (if that matters to you). |
I second the Wiehle Ave metro suggestion. Our 3BR TH was just appraised at 375. The larger ones in our cluster are still going for under 500k. Now is the time to buy here and it will be a straight shot once that metro is in.
Meanwhile there are commuter busses and I can't say enough positive things about living in South Reston. (Also, I LOVE our daycare.) |
Can you give me the name of a couple of commuter buses? I looked into Reston but couldn't find a commuter bus. Thanks so much! |
Try the 22043 neighborhood, near West Falls Church metro. |
Try 22203 in N Arlington. We are about a mile from Ballaston. Regular bus service on Wilson. Great schools, parks and trails. Also a very short drive to DC. There are people who rent in our neighborhood for between 2800-3500 for a 3 br house. Most have a rec room in the basement or lower level. |
yup 22203 the way to go! |
