My daughter played for him for several years. He's a raging a'hole. Uses derogatory language, speaks poorly about the girls to one another, trashes anyone who leaves his team. He runs "Club Gus" and is not a team player with other coaches. Took my daughter a few months to get her confidence back after he took hers completely away from her. If you're one of his favorites it isn't quite as bad but his favorites change often so you're never safe.

Does he push a particular style of play? What sort of players does he prefer? What are his practices like?

He likes defense and that's what he focuses on. The offense is pretty typical kickball style. His practices are garbage, he repeats the same handful of drills.

Does “likes defense” mean he focuses on build-out? That’s better at least than the goalie punt or defender long-ball that are so prevalent for getting the ball up the field.

Where else has GD coached? Did he have a team in the fall?

He’s coached at FCV, Bethesda, McLean. He had 4 teams at Great falls this past fall

Hmmm yet another case of foreigner who wouldn’t make it with futebol back in Brazil. Wonders why that that is

Because quality is massively higher there than here. It’s like your kid going to George Mason and your neighbor’s kid going to Stanford.

And you can make a decent living off your playing days here because most of the local coaches are so awful.

I was there. It was in a parking lot behind the dumpster at a McDonalds. It was great! Really amazing things will be coming from rbfc.

One person cannot effectively coach 4 teams at the same time.

Agree. But tell that to the greedy SOB who continues to insist he can. Heard he's out the door anyway (not to RbFC)

Where else is he going to go that will let him "coach" four teams at the same time?

How does that even work? Combined practices? Sends assistants to games?

RL games are back to back to back on Saturdays and against the same club typically at the same location. So usually you can make all the games. Not saying it is optimal but it is doable.

Super easy as this person stated. You are at the field for 8 hours coaching back to back. Many coaches have 3 teams so having 4 isn't the end of the world

Right but this coach is notorious for prioritizing 1-2 of the 4 teams and leaving the others to be coached by his assistant who is not who people have signed up for as their coach - he's not licensed (debatable if that matters) and until a year or so ago wasn't even paid and now is paid as an assistant coach not a head coach even though he's doing more of the work for some of the teams!

Yes, RL league games are back-to-back but you know what's not? Tournaments and showcases, playoffs, etc.

You know what you can do for tournaments and all coaches do it... You let the tournament organizers knows you coach more than 1 team and they make your schedule so that your teams either play at the same park or at times where you can make it to other fields for times. It's a crazy thing called planning and scheduling. It happens a lot in all tournaments.

Hey if someone is willing to come do my job for free while I cash my check and no one says anything about it, give me a call. I'll go home!!! Someone above that coach should know about this and put an end to it
