| Anyone been? Are there suitable rides, games, entertainment for a 2.5 year old? |

What a frightening scenerio: Landmark, traveling carnival and a toddler...
I would stay very, very far away |
LOL, I used to live near there - I agree. Have you been to Landmark Mall, OP? No insight on the Carnival, but I'd probably not bother. |
| We went last year. It's fine and they did have a ride or two for the little ones and some games. However, you have to pay to enter and then for the games and rides too. So, it can be a little pricey for not that much. Yes, we all know Landmarks is depressing : ) |
| Oh...........dirka dirka dirka Mohammed jihad.... |
|
ah...dirka dirka dirka....LOL my husband LOVES "Team America World Police"
Thanks for laugh! And, no...I would definately NOT go to Landmark for a carnival or anything else for that matter. |

We live in Cameron Station, not far from Landmark. I have no experience with Landmark Mall at night, but have had absolutely no issues during the day. In fact, its almost empty except for families every time I go! There are a lot of immigrants, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
We went to the carnival yesterday afternoon with 4 yr old and 19 month old. There were several rides that the 4 year old could do and loved. I think about 7-8 rides. For a 2.5 year old, there's probably about 4 rides you can do. We did not take the 19 month old on any rides. There is a $2 entrance fee for 3+. Then its $1/ticket. Most rides are 2-3 tickets each. Some charge for the parent to ride with, some don't. Then there's the typical carnival games - money only, not tickets. I think my husband spent $40 trying to get a basketball in the hoop so he could win a stuffed animal. lol. Yes, cheaper to just go buy one. The picking duckies was fun for the 19 month old, guarenteed to "win". Each duck has a S, M or L on the bottom - small medium or large stuffed animal. You can "add" them up. Almost all the ducks had an S. So my 19 month old got 2 S's and we got a medium animal. Went back later, got 2 more S's and traded medium up for a large stuffed animal. It was crowded. The food is expensive. But overall we had a great time. I did not feel as if we were going to get mugged or pick pocketed at any time. The Landmark Mall haters are just afraid of immigrants. |
I HATE these types of posts. I go to Landmark sometimes because it's the closest JCP to me, but I totally find it depressing. Do a Google search, and the mall gets horrible reviews because it's empty and sad. And, there was a shooting there back in 2007. Yes, it was at 2 am, but still, not great for business. My parents are immigrants, so no, I'm not afraid of immigrants (although I do have a few aunts that are a little loony). So, don't post stupid comments. I could care less who shops at Landmark. It's just a pathetic, depressing place to be. |
huh? totally missed what the reference here is for. |
hmmm......as compared to, the recent brutal murder in Bethesda? Please, Landmark is sad and pathetic but the shooting comment just makes you look like a moron. |
Must have been a long time ago, the JCP closed upteen years ago
|
| I don't go to Landmark Mall b/c its shitty - and has crappy stores. Is the Lord & Taylor still there? |
|
Landmark mall has a great soft play area for crawlers and new walkers. We used to bring my son there on very hot days last summer. Sure, the mall is a bit depressing. But you don't have to live there. You're going there for an hour or two. And I have never once, not for one second, felt unsafe. Give me a break.
No experience with the carnival, OP, but sounds like it would be worth checking out. |

I don't get the "it's pathetic and depressing". The soft play area is great. I see a bunch of other families there, none of them look to be depressed. So it's not crowded. YEAH!!! I went to Macy's and found the matching sham for my bedspread (the other Macy's only had 1 sham).
I'm much happier with it less crowded than the absolute madness at Fair Lakes and Pentagon Row. I don't have to circle for hours for parking, the staff is always helpful. And personally, its up to you to make a trip anywhere exciting and happy or worthless and depressing. |
There was a shooting outside Pentagon Row in 2006 but that hasn't affected business. And a kidnapping at Springfield Mall in 2009. If you look at the statistics, Landmark Mall has less crime than other shopping areas in the DC metro area. So, if its not the crime, and not the immigrants, and not the shopping, why, exactly, do you hate this mall? |
