Let’s quit bashing kids and get back to the 29s and looming tryouts. Anyone know about MDDC tryout policy/turn around time as asked earlier? Mddc first tryout is tomorrow. |
Most bids will go out after first mddc tryout. The second tryout will likely be more kids that they haven’t seen or who were on the cusp. |
Poll: how many receive an offer tomorrow night but still go to capital? Likely there will be more than a few who forfeit deposits to have a chance on Monday. |
Keeping our options open deposit be damned. |
Must be nice to not have to worry about money like that |
Hi everyone. Stressful times for everyone. Good luck today through Tuesday to everyone. I thought it would be fun to play with Chat GPT on the strategy that will play out over the next week. Here is the summary and sorry for the "TLDR" length.
*********** Where Are the Top Players Likely to Go? There are three main clubs involved: M&D DC: Ranked #14 nationally at the end of middle school. The team continues into high school — but players must try out again and it only stays strong if enough top players return. BLC: Ranked #23. This team ends after middle school, so every player must find a new high school team. Capital Blue: A top-tier high school club known for developing talent and getting girls recruited — including to high academic colleges. It’s competitive but has a strong track record. So What Happens Next? BLC players don’t have a choice — their team ends, and many of them will try out for Capital Blue, the most proven option for high school. M&D DC players do have a choice: Stay with M&D DC, and hope enough other top players do the same to keep the team strong. Or try out for Capital Blue, chasing the reputation and recruiting history. The Dilemma for M&D DC Players If most of the top M&D DC players stay, the team continues to be one of the best. But if too many decide to leave, then: The overall talent drops, Everyone else feels pressure to leave too, And M&D DC starts to lose its competitive edge. The challenge is, no one knows exactly what the other families will do. So many start thinking: “If the other top girls are trying out for Capital Blue, we probably should too — just in case.” That leads to a chain reaction where Capital Blue ends up attracting most of the top players, even if M&D DC could have remained elite if everyone stuck together. Bottom Line Capital Blue is likely to pull in many top players from both BLC and M&D DC. M&D DC can still be a strong option — but only if enough families commit early and trust that others will stay. If families wait and see what others do, everyone may end up chasing limited spots at Capital Blue — and M&D DC loses its core. |
Join the club where the coaches, staff networks, connections are strong! Those behind the scene connections go a LONG way for a mediocre or good player. A top elite fast, strong, skilled player will be fine at any club as long as they market themselves and standout when it counts but most area players are not in the top 50-200. Each team has 1-4 top players usually and the rest are good enough to hopefully get recruited and benefit from equal playtime. The least skilled players benefit the most from equal playtime model. Did you know that a mere 3% of high school Lacrosse athletes get recruited to play at the D1 level. It's tight competition with only 6-12 spots up for grabs at most schools. Roster restrictions, fifth-year players, medical redshirts, and the transfer portal can all shake up the recruiting game for the incoming class.

Capital now recruiting hard for mediocre and "the least skilled players" to "hopefully get recruited". My how times have changed. |

How many of the players on MDDC are going to SR next year? They could have the most incentive to stay. Other ISL school players may have less incentive to stay. |
They got into the high academic on their own. If your daughter wants to get recruited she has to do the work herself . Ask the 26 parents. |
I have no skin in the game as we have already settled on a club, but I have been following the mddc capital discussion closely. Mddc tryouts are tonight. Any post tryout report about numbers and potential capital overlap or when the girls have to commit would make this humid Sunday event by a bit more interesting. |

Where have these posters been all year? There's been a full on assault by the Cap machine on another club's team, saying the only way they can get recruited is if you allow Cap to hoodwink college coaches into taking you.

Thank you for this. It makes perfect sense. I’m a 2029 parent of an high academic upper tier player. Neither my daughter nor I would know how to navigate the recruiting process. We would be entirely unable to make progress without good guidance. Can you recommend any clubs in the area that might be good at offering such assistance? Or does it really not matter and we should assume any club in the area would have the same experience, contacts, and credentials? Thanks again for the good post. |
