What is the latest on the bid to get MLSnext? |
Nothing new but the new alliance between MLSN and GA does help. Boils down to whether or not MLSN believes the player pool is big enough to support the number of teams. |
This parent seems to know a lot about the inner workings of the league |
Echo chamber of the same employee at Var keeping a flame alive knowing their main attractive is a bar and a ‘nice playing field’ GA has no track history or reputation so it’s easy to get a spot in there, money talks. MLS doesn’t need the money |
Does GA need the money? What does that mean? |
Vo ist der ubermensch? |
Let's go smoke a joint, man, on the 50 fu*kin' yard line, man |
Wrong football game, duuuude. |
Didn’t we applied for mls next last year? What makes us thing we will get it this year? |
I think the club has to apply every year. The problem is the boys teams that play EDP are mid-table teams. It's hard to make a case that they can compete in MLSN if they aren't able to dominate EDP. Even with the new GA alliance, it will probably be another year or two before MLSN comes to Rev. |
The only thing you're right about is Rev definitely has a better playing field than that carpet you call turf over at LSP. |
You are assuming a club’s existing teams need to already be at the level of the league before they can be invited to join. That is not always the case. Joining a new league is not a promotion/relegation model. In some cases, a club is given entry to a league and then they can use that credential to create brand new teams. The level of the current teams doesn’t really matter because the understanding is they will form new teams with many new players. This is what happened with VRSC’s and other club’s added to GA. All leagues want to grow bigger. The only way to do that is to either convince clubs to leave existing better leagues (difficult) or take a chance on clubs based on potential to grow. |
What happened with VRSC getting into GA was that the FCV staff decided to leave TSJ for a more-certain future in terms of field space/facilities (and, in at least one case, more money). With MJ having previously left FCV for VRSC, the line of communication to CC was already there. CC's connections and proven track record (with FCV) in the GA sealed that deal. But I agree with you that VRSC's existing teams had nothing to do with them getting accepted into the GA. |
