Agree. Even if their parents are jackwipes sometimes, Battlefield deserves credit for becoming a state power over the last half decade and consistently giving themselves a shot. Say what you want about their tourney draws, they have over the last few years stepped up their out of region competition and started beating good fairfax/Nova teams after not being able to hang in the early years of their rise to the top.

Madison is Madison and Coach Counts is a GOAT no matter what you think of her. She has found a way to get her teams in the mix for nearly 2 decades now, no matter what the school. Battlefield needs to keep it up for another decade to get to that level.

Saturday should be a good game between what most should objectively agree were the two best Class 6 teams over the course of the season (not saying every night, but overall). Good luck to both teams.

Yes, coaches calling the players trailer park kids after they lost to them the first time is very classy. The goalie dad getting warned by the refs in the same game because they are losing is very classy

Let’s put it this way, just because you live in Vienna doesn’t make you classy. But if you are playing for a state championship game does make the actual girls on the field fierce competitors

I have zero respect for the fans or their coaches after we beat them the first time. However, I have a ton of respect for their players who played their hearts out and I will never take anything away from those girls for the way their coaches and parents act

Does BF have obnoxious parents and coaches? Absolutely. It’s a part of the game

Good luck to both sides. I hope the girls play a very physical, settled game. I am fine if my daughter’s team doesn’t win, as long as they leave it all out on the field

I personally believe that the only way these two teams were not going to meet in the finals would have been if they were matched up to play against each other in the semi finals

I think the VHSL needs to move to a ranking system like other states use so we can avoid this in the future and guarantee the two best teams make it to the finals

Former Madison parent here who just checked back in to see what all the chatter was before states. Coach Counts is far from the GOAT. She is handed a wealth of talent every year on a silver platter and continually mismanages it. I hope Madison wins, but it will be despite Counts, not because of her.

I have been trying to stay out of all of these shenanigans because this game is about the girls and the fact remains it is going to be an extremely physical, evenly matched game. I wish both teams luck and congratulations on making it to the finals.

As for the draw from their previous game, BF won 13 out of 18 draws

I’m not saying it will be that way again, nor am I trying to rub anything in. It was a question asked and I thought that since people were talking trash instead of actually giving an answer that I would just give the facts

Despite the huge 13 to 5 draw advantage, BF walked away with only a 2-goal victory. I see the draw being 50/50 or even an advantage for Madison this time. I anticipate an early Madison lead that reduces BF's ability to slow down their offense. I predict a 13-5 Madison win. I'm not a fan of either team.

I see the draw advantage as being similar to early in the year, as that is the most likely scenario with a sample size of 1. That may give BF one advantage that would be increased versus early in the year -- wearing down Mad's defense in the 85-90° heat, which will be hotter still on the turf.
Even with that, I don't see BF running away with it or Mad wilting entirely. A 4th quarter game, winner of the last couple possessions takes it. Buckle up.

I thought a sample size of one fails statistically. But looking at both teams' entire season, I don't predict another lopsided draw control stat.

Madison got much better at the draw throughout the season. This is their biggest advantage and BF will not have be able to hang on the circle. This will cause a lopsided win for Madison.

Madison lost to Battlefield during a tournament game early in the season. Battlefield beat Robo by 2 late in the season where draw controls were fairly evenly split. In the last game with Madison vs Robo- Madison dominated the draws. This time, I think Madison will continue to dominate the draws and will win the championship by a good margin.

Yes. I think Robo and Battlefield are very similar looking at recent play and Madison is in a different league right now.

Draws are about matchups and clearly BF has a huge matchup advantage over Mad. Mad will not be be able to hang on the circle, and BF will continue to dominate Mad on the draws and this will cause a lopsided win or a championship win by a good margin.
