Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
|
We were at the Cheesecake Factory the other night and my daughter, as usual ordered the mac and cheese. I took a bite and OMG - it is SO good. I wanted to eat her food more than my own.
So, what are other restaurants with good kid's food? We go out about once a week and are sick of the typical kids menus. |
| Restaurants with no kids' menus generally have the best food for kids. |
I'm sure that is true, but since I've had kids every restaurant that I've taken them to does have kids menus. We're not fancy.

Rio grande pf chaings Cpk Ihop |
| In Nova, the whole Great American chain (Sweetwater, Coastal Flats, etc) has great stuff on kids menus and very cheap too. |
| Lia's in Friendship Heights has a good kids menu. |

Legal Seafood has a good kids menu.

| Just went to Silver Diner tonight, and they had a decent kids menu. They also have a focus on organic and locally sourced products, even some gluten free options. |
| Mon Ami Gabi has a great kids menu. Big Bowl in Reston is also good. |

Any ethnic restaurant--ask for an extra plate and share your food with your kid.
BTW, places like Cafe Delux have mac and cheese on the regular menu, too. Just order some and share with your kid. |
| We went to copper canyon ranch one night on a whim and they didn't have a kid's menu, but gave us a few options for our kids and the food was great. I'm laughing b/c one of the things we ordered was their mac and cheese, and we were all fighting over it, even my DD, who normally hates mac and cheese. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I used to share with the kid, but now we have three kids. And sometimes they will share an adult menu item, but most of the time they want their own meal.

For best selection of meals and healthy sides - Silver Diner wins by a landslide for us. Now, I admit, my son almost always gets a hot dog, but at least he is also getting fresh fruit (which looked good), applesauce and/or veggies. And they have healthier kids entrees (chicken breast, spaghetti)
I fully admit, my choice of restaurants when dining with my son is family friendly. As long as the adult food is edible, I'm happy. I'm sure Silver Diner isn't a true foodie haven. I personally also prefer restaurants that have kids menus because (1) I don't want to spend $15 on a meal for my son and (2) since we rarely go out, I don't want to have to order a meal that he will like (if the goal is to order and share). Plus, my son likes having "his" food. But to each his own. |
We go to Copper Canyon sometimes, and they have a pretty big kid's menu. My son got meatloaf and mashed potato, I was so surprised when he ate it! |
