Is Komi worth it?

Just made a reservation --- is it worth the price???

Yes.

Thanks --- anyone order the vegetarian menu?

Yes, totally worth it. It has been amazing both times I've been. I'm not a vegetarian but have sometimes been jealous of vegetarian tasting menus when my v. friends order them. I think it would still be just as worth it for a vegetarian.

Yes.

OP here -- thanks!

What's the story with wine there -- do they pair with the courses? Please enlighten me! Would you recommend that we just get a bottle or a few glasses of different wines?

Yes! When DH and I went, you can purchase the wine pairing- I can't remember how many glasses. I was pregnant at the time but tasted his-it was great!

OP - if you don't want to go, please let me know and I'll take your reservation! (I'll even get you a nice gift.) I've been dying to go back, but can't seem to get my act together far enough in advance to get a weekend reservation.

OP here ..Thanks!

Sorry, 17:22, but I'm even more excited about going after reading everyone's posts. Will try the wine pairing -- sounds fantastic.

I thought it was not quite worth it. I went to Komi back in 2003 or 2004 or so when it was quite new, and I thought it was one of the best meals of my life. Recently I went back with extraordinarily (and maybe unreasonably) high expectations - and we were actually slightly disappointed. Also, a little hungry when the meal was done. Lots of little tastes - and some were pretty great. But it was just not as earth-shatteringly good as we expected. (FWIW, I thought the Inn at Little Washington was really overrated too. Maybe I just have unfairly high expectations but when we're dropping so much cash on a meal I can't help it.)

Also, we did the wine pairing and that was definitely worth it.

That said, we had a really fun evening there and it overall was a good experience - I bet I would have liked it more if I hadn't been thinking back to our prior meal there, which was such an unexpected surprise.

OMG YES!!! When I think about how many mediocre meals I have over paid for in this area. This is expensive but was the best meal I've had. I don't want to hype it so you're disappointed but it is very good. And I know several others who thought so too. We did the pairing (3 glasses I think) rather than ordering a bottle which was nice. They have a 5 option too, but they gave us generous glasses and an extra at the end. I did not even finish the 4 glasses.

It was excellent; although we didn't pay for it (business expense), we would go back on our own dime. WAY better than CityZen. Definitely do the wine pairing; when we went, you could do a 3 or 5 glass pairing. 3 was enough for me, but others did the 5.

Is it a fixed menu? Or do you have a choice of items?
