Don't assume it is IB people. The first rule of troll club is mask your true identity by assuming a caricature of someone else. |
I think the view is, "we know it's outdated crap, but it's our crap and we're not gonna' let you take it from us." |
You are confusing "defensive" with "disagree with your premise." Hardy families aren't defensive about your calling for eliminating the uniforms - many have said that they are open to the discussion - especially if your intention is to be a Hardy parent. However, we disagree with your premise that the uniforms make our school a "ghetto school" or a North Korean gulag, or are necessary because our children are so poorly behaved. In fact, we are offended by those assumptions. |

I just found nice photos of last night's finalists science fair at Hardy. Looks nice. Nice projects, and nice and integrated community:

No. Our view is "as parents, we are happy that our children can focus on their schoolwork instead of worrying incessantly about what they are going to wear and who is wearing what. And our children are very happy with the uniforms. So if somebody who knows nothinga boutr Hardy and its families wants to change that, we are open to their suggestion - but it needs to be better than stating that the uniforms make our school a ghetto school." |
Great pictures. Thank you for posting. |
Yes, thanks so much for posting. I attended with my feeder school fourth grader, and DC found it both inspiring and fun! The young Hardy scientists did a great job of explaining their projects to us, and they were uniformly polite and extremely impressive. |
| So, what would happen if a kid wears brown-colored jeans to school? Not khaki slacks, not quite the right color, but sort-of close to the uniform restrictions: would someone from Hardy send her home? |
The child's picture and the parent's picture would be posted on DCUM. That has been the procedure for the past several years. It's worked well. |
The teachers would be too busy teaching, the students too busy learning, and the administrators too busy planning to focus on this. Now please give it a rest. |
Oh my god, those children are adorable! |
No way! I want to know if someone is snooping around enforcing uniforms, or if they're all kind of chill about it. We would see that management considers enforcing the "uniforms" really not a big deal if a kid can wear non-blue jeans to school and not be hassled about it. |
I'm starting to think that those incessant posts are coming from a troll |
Ha! These are innocuous questions. Rather, it looks to me that some members of the Hardy Club (TM) are afraid to confront the objective merit of their Club Rules. What kind of club are you if skeptical inquirers are branded as "trolls" or "haters"? Hint: a defensive little club. |
You say "defensive." I say just tired and annoyed with people who haven't even crossed the threshold of the school. The questions stop being "innocuous" when they've been answered over and over and over again. PP, you may think you're an innocent, cute mosquito, but everyone else knows you're just a pest that needs to go away. |
