A horrific and unforgivable attack.
But by way of context the article seems to ignore the fact that ten times as many Palestinian children have been murdered by the illegal Israeli occupying forces as Israeli children have been killed. I am not saying this excuses it, but when you see the conditions the Palestinians have been reduced to then you can begin to understand their anger. If you were a Palestinian living in the occupied territories I imagine you would be pretty angry too. |
Yes, this was horrible. I'm a frequent critic of Israel but that's no justification for what happened here and Abbas has condemned it. |
There have certainly been child casualities on both sides, but the Palestinian children are not specifically targeted, nor are their deaths celebrated with candies and treats. |
Sad and despicable. But the author overstepped when trying to use this event to invalidate the Palestinian government. The author said this:
And yet we know that the Palestinian Authority was willing to give Israel nearly everything it wanted, and to this day provides material support to prevent terror attacks on Israel. It is a shameful act. Yet it is also shameful that the author uses the event not just as a criticism of terrorists, but to the entire Palestinian situation. |
This is not meant as either a pro or con judgement, but that was an editorial obviously published with a pro-Israel slant.
It's not surprising that it is done in a way that dramatizes the event as a news story would not. The description, telling what happened first, etc, obviously is intended to enhance the effect by including suppositions. Taking it for what it is, I think the act he is describing is despicable, but his description does not make all Palestinians responsible for it, nor does it absolve Israel for what I think are policy errors. But neither should it be a reason to bash Israel. |
I would never defend either that attack or the continued Israeli settlement building in the West Bank. |
Removing both the terrorist act and the political actions, its sickening to see the culture of hate that is bred amongst the children and the celebration of terrorist acts, including monuments to these murderers. |
Sucks. But how is this news? The Arabs and Israelis will be beating on one another until Judgement Day. They deserve one another. |
It is news because it is an atrocity and because it just happened. It would make the papers anywhere, conflict or not. That family is not responsible for the Arab/Israeli conflict. They deserve respect as people. |
Assuming this will never end makes it less likely it will end. |
I'm a Jew. I've had Palestinian students. Take away the irrational feeling that they have to hate each other and you find they can get along fine. Of course, I have tea party friends, so it's not just true of Jews & Arabs. |

There is violence in both sides. This family lived in the West Bank. Those settlements are illegal by international law. Not that this makes it or any other violence right.
But revenge is the law of the land and that is how things are negotiated. |
What exactly did those children do that needed to be avenged? Would it have been ok if these Israeli EMTs had let this Palestinian mother and baby die in the name of "revenge"? http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4043536,00.html There are many things that are illegal, that doesnt mean we should tolerate acts of terror and murder bc of some pathetic excuse of "well, thats the law of the land." |
