St. Patrick's -- is it really worth $28,000 a year???

Admitted for K and not sure if the price tag is worth it. Any thoughts on this school?

that's the price tag, give or take, for all the private schools in NWDC or close-in Md.

I call fake. You can't really just be noticing the tuition now. Or wondering of people have "thoughts"

Totally not worth it if you got in so that you decline and we can take your spot.

It's worth it today. It's not worth it when, in 3 years, you have two or three more kids, and you are faced with paying 90K for numbers and letters. Think long term. If you are asking....

I agree with 22:40. If you think it's not worth it, don't go there. There's a line of people who will happily take your place.

And, if you would, please post a link to that fantastic private kindergarten to 8th grade program in NW DC that costs under $15K

Where are this year's 6th and 8th graders going? Or last year's if this year's aren't known. I realize they all go various places...but is it a feeder to any other schools? Where do the bulk of them go?

Is that amount better if you invested it over the years you would be paying it and could provide a nice income for DC who will then be a young adult?

Sometimes I wonder whether any of the schools in this area are worth their price tags. Unfortunately, the market allows it. You will either pay private school tuition or to live in a neighborhood which has resources equivalent to the private schools, so bottom line is yes -- for this area.

Not.

I think it's a fair question. It is slightly more than some of the other options (yes, there are a handful of good private schools, e.g. Concord Hill, that are not $28K). When we applied, I knew the price tag, but when you get the admissions letter and look at it again, all of a sudden it becomes real. Is it worth it? It depends on your child and what you want to get out of it.

St. Patrick's has been a wonderful school for our children. I can go on and on, but our kids have thrived there - it's a warm, inclusive community, the teachers have been kind, yet demanding, and our kids just LOVE going to school there every day. I definitely think kids leave there well prepared - my oldest was just accepted at St. Albans for next year.

It's a feeder of sorts into St. Albans for boys. For girls, last year they went to NCS, Maret, Sidwell, Potomac and others that I now can't remember.

Would love to see real stats from the past few years to back up the claim that it is a feeder into St. Albans. I just don't think this is true from what I know from friends.

If it's any consolation, private K in NYC is $37,000/year!!!

Well, there are plenty of wonderful private schools in the DC area. Your child will get a great education at any number of them. Are ANY of them "worth" $28,000? It's a completely subjective question. It depends on what you can afford and what your priorities are for your money.
