Let's start speculating/debating whether the REASON we've not heard anything about a transition IS because all the clubs realized they actually DON'T LIKE SY and are now considering returning to BY.

I like this! All the BY crazies will cling on to this for a year!!!

Ah yes, it also brings the SY bullies out of the woodwork!

Not a bully, just low a IQ individual that likes to scream the loudest.

And once GA relays their plans ECNL will do the same or maybe do somehting even crazier forcing GA to respond/implement.
GA not bothering to have trapped player exception is a good sign they are going with a straight date cutoff and avoiding the nonsense lobbying by parents trying to get the cheat code.

This is 100% BS you have no idea what GA is planning to do.

Also its in GAs favor to do somthing like 8/1 or 7/1.

Stop trying to pass nonsense as fact.

How dare you try to pass off that it is in GA's favor to do something like 8/1 or 7/1.

Creative response.

Sorry, people see though your nonsense.

Lots of clubs that have rec and ECNL (or other national platforms) already manage two cutoffs. It’s not hard. Software is pretty robust, and professional registrars make it easy.

If that was true we wouldn't be waiting over a year to implement the change.

GA does have trapped player rules? My daughter is Nov 2010 was able to goto a showcase with 2011 team during the high school season. They also allow players in 11th grade to attend the U17 summer showcase.

Apparently GA used to have a trapped player rule. But they scraped it this season likely because most teams ignored it. ECNL has the same rule and most teams ignore it the same way GA teams do.

That was their Late developer rule which was for smaller/later born players typically for ages U13-15 they could play down. Similar to MLSN biobanding. They removed this year.

GA does still have their trapped player rules.

I blame the switch to BY for the current state of the USMNT!

At our club ppl keep saying MLSN isn't changing. Is this true or still just speculation? Is it leaning one way or another?

They definitely do not want to.

Computer issues were a cited reason for the 1 season delay.

Or the leagues know the age change is still far out and they’re generally understaffed and have other things to focus on before then.

GA and ECNL already have trapped player rules and MLSN has late developer rule so straight age dates make sense and could explain why 9/1 instead of 8/1.

What? This makes no sense.

With biobanding MLSN can already play players down which can make a BY team the same as a SY team. There's no need to change anything because MLSN can already do SY teams.
Anonymous
I don’t think so, your q1 kid will have to play with the rest of his grade next year…
Anonymous
The top tier of MLS is not changing to SY.

It hasn't been made clear about the second tier MLSN 2. Both sides have good reasons for one or the other. For BY- it keeps the two MLS programs aligned. The SY case is more nuanced- The majority of clubs field teams that are not MLSN- all their teams under the age of 12/13 will be SY. Additionally, most large clubs have 5 teams per age bracket. In which case, 3 of those teams will be SY.

Will MLSN care what clubs do with the 2nd tier? How much say will clubs have? Which scenario is easier on the clubs to manage.
Anonymous
That scenario sounds difficult for clubs to manage. There’s not a huge amount of upside to BY especially if all the other major leagues are going SY so I’m not sure why that approach makes sense.
