With all the Charlie Sheen hype, I learned that this is the highest rated show. We watched it on Sunday. I really don't get it. The writing is tired, characters aren't likeable in the least.
Yet a HUGE fan base. Maybe I just saw a bad episode? |
| No. It sucks and I don't get what people like about it either. Charlie Sheen essentially plays himself, albeit with toned down douchebaggery. |
| I don't get it in the slightest. The humor is horridly bad. I've actually watched it 3 times because I kept trying to figure it out. Its a stupid show. |
| It's annoying in myriad ways, among them that all of the women are portrayed as either shrewish nags or ditsy sluts. |

I'm like you, OP. I heard about the hype an tuned in to watch my very first episode. I didn't get the appeal, either, but I gained important insight from the show nevertheless!!
The fat pasty kid? That could be my son in 4 years if I don't push him harder than I do now to get him off the couch and into more regular physical activity. Seeing that older chub scared me straight bc DS definitely has those tendencies. Thanks, half a man! |
| THe huge fan base for this show could explain both the widespread support for Sarah Palin and the Tea Baggers. |
| I'm not normally one to judge others' taste in mindless entertainment (I mean, my favorite show is Vampire Diaries, so what does that tell you), but wow... knowing that two and a half men is as popular as it is just makes me sad for America. |
Yes to this. I found that to be really troubling. And Charlie Sheen's character is slimy to the point of just EWWWWW. |
| No. It's a stupid show with jokes and plots circa 1980. And I've gleaned this from clips. I've never watched an episode. Does it have a laugh track? |
| Nope - I've only ever seen it while on an airplane, and it didn't seem funny enough to seek out in real life. I was mostly pleased to see Jon Cryer in a non-80s movie role! |

13:37 back again. Just had to do this for myself, ack!
|
| It made me laugh once as I was surfing past it, but not enough for me to watch an entire episode, ever. But then again, I never got the appeal of Everybody Loves Raymond either. |
Both shows seem pretty hell bent on embracing tired man / woman stereotypes. At least Raymond has funny writing. My husband really likes both shows and I'd say he's pretty far from the stereotypical "men" on the shows, and I'm nowhere near the stereotypical lady roles the shows depict. I'm not sure what he thinks is funny about 2 1/2. We watch it and he'll laugh at something that I'm just like "god, that's so stupid." It's not even just that I don't laugh at the offensive stuff, but I just do not think any of it is humourous, at all! |
| You are not alone. Holds zero appeal for me. |
| The popularity of this horribly unfunny show is a constant reminder that I am so not an average American even though I usually think I am. |
