Tennessee v Garner, you can't shoot someone that is running away

ok. if you are so opposed to them just shooting her in the leg then why didn’t the police just shoot out her tires?

NP.

Good question! Why didn’t they shooter out her tires?

- or shoot the steering wheel out of her hands?

Or get the f@ck out of the road?

She’s on video saying “I’m pulling out.”

Yeah, it's looking like this was someone just trying to go home. This could happen to anyone.

This was on the French news. The presenter clearly laid out the difference between what ICE claims to have happened, and what the videos show.

I think it's only a tiny subset of MAGA trolls who insist this was not a fatal error on the part of the ICE agent.

I’ve seen it covered on various international news outlets and they all come to the same conclusion. The ice defense angle is just red meat for morons.

Speaking of morons, the Vice President is busy disseminating this angle from the world’s largest podium.

He sure is, though I’m not sure how tall it could be if he can see over the top.

ICE DID NOT ALLOW ANY ONE TO RENDER AID. THEY DID NOT RENDER AID, THEY STOPPED A PHYSICIAN FROM RENDERING AID AND THEIR VEHICLES BLOCKED AN AMBULANCE.
Every single ICE agent on that street is negligent and could have contributed to her death.

Yes as the family’s wrongful death lawsuit will note, and we will all be responsible for paying them.

Are they allowed to sue?

There was no "jumping in front of the car".

The ICE agents were preparing to arrest the decedent. The ICE officer shooter had walked in front of the car, which was going in reverse, preparing to arrest her. The victim suddenly placed the car in drive, hit the accelerator in a reckless fashion, then hit the ICE agent with her vehicle (Honda Pilot).

One point of view is that the reckless driver attempting to escape law enforcement officers presented a danger to the community especially so after hitting an ICE agent with her SUV.

Unfortunately, people will interpret the video as they wish to support their political leanings.

Lawyers - do ICE agents have jurisdiction to arrest a someone for blocking a street lane? I am asking out of genuine curiousity.

Yes. Obstruction of justice; obstruction of a law enforcement officer in the performance of his/her duties.

Other cars went around her without problem. Why did this one stop and shoot her? What "justice" was being conducted by the officer that shot her at that time?

Why is she using her car to block and decide who gets by? is she in charge of traffic?

What does it matter? How does that even justify the second and third shots through the driver’s side window?

How many time are you allowed to fire if someone is trying to kill you with their car?

Let's find a case where somebody was trying to kill somebody with a car and we can discuss.

Google is your friend (and this happened in NOVA, no less):

“ Incident Overview
In the early hours of February 25, 2006, an off-duty Alexandria police officer shot and killed 18-year-old Aaron Brown at an IHOP restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia. The incident occurred after Brown and his friends left the restaurant without paying their bill.
Details of the Shooting
Time and Location: The shooting took place around 3:40 a.m. in the parking lot of IHOP located at 6254 Duke Street.
Circumstances: The officer, who was working a security detail, was alerted by a restaurant employee about the unpaid bill. When he attempted to stop the group, Brown was a backseat passenger in a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee that allegedly moved toward the officer. Fearing for his safety, the officer fired at the vehicle.
Outcome: Brown was struck and died at the scene. None of the other occupants or the officer were injured.
Investigations and Reactions
Investigations: Following the shooting, both a criminal investigation and an internal police review were initiated. The officer was placed on administrative leave.”

Interesting.

So it appears he was justified in taking the shot.

The agent still needs to find a new career. This is the second time since June he’s been involved in similar incidents. Everything about his approach is dangerous and created this situation.

And, why isn’t the GOP up in arms over the lack of recognition for the police on J6; and made Ashlee Babbitt a hero? Her actions were appropriately addressed.

He will end up like George Zimmerman, homeless and destitute, though he should end up like Derek Chauvin.

These people are propaganda obsessed. It feels like the harder people push the worse it gets. Now that ICE knows there will be no punishment for anything things are about to get a whole lot more dangerous. I don’t know what the answer is at this point. I don’t think protesting is going to work.

Disobeying orders from law enforcement after breaching security at our Nation's Capitol Building and then ignoring multiple warnings to stop with a gun pointed at you while crawling through broken glass to access top ranking American officials and disobeying orders while impeding traffic are two completely different things. Babbitt should have been shot much sooner. Shooting a fleeing motorist is not what cops are supposed to do.

Let's be clear on what he's signaling: ICE agents have "absolute immunity," even if they kill unarmed civilians, and there's nothing that local or state officials can do about it. Expect to see more civilian deaths at the hands of ICE.

“Absolute immunity” is a new one. Yale Law School must be very proud.

This is not going to play well, even in Peoria.
