Nothing political - thanks.

Well, the national geographic ones are pretty good - I've watched jamestown, guns germs and steel, and the one on north korea - all were pretty interesting.

Don't know if you'd consider this political - but I just watched "The Lottery" this week and it was very good. It's about charter schools in Harlem. I didn't see Waiting for Superman yet, it's in my queue though.

OP here! -
Thanks! Jamestown sounds really interesting.
And I actually put The Lottery in my queue this morning.

By political I mean anything having to do with slamming the right or the left. just sick of all that....

Warning: I tend to like dark documentaries:

'Stevie' -- the director of 'Hoop Dreams' goes back to find out what happened to Stevie, a kid he mentored while in film school.

'Dear Zachary' -- this one is really disturbing. Only rent it if you are feeling up to it.

'Capturing the Freidmans'

"Babies" Fascinating
"Jesus Camp" Interesting

Okay, added Murderball, Man on Wire and Stevie.

Capturing the Friedmans is a little heavy for me....too depressing :O

The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, one of my favorite Netfilix rentals of all time. It's about a homeless street musician and his relationship with a flock of wild parrots in San Francisco.

"Harvard Beats Yale: 29-29" -- travel back to 1968 when underdog Harvard miraculously came from behind to tie Yale in the famed college gridiron rivalry. The movie's title (the headline in the Harvard Crimson the following day) gives away the finish, but the filmmakers still manage to create a sense of suspense and zany humor -- much of it supplied by interviews with the players, now men well into their 60s. Their reminiscences add a really interesting twist to the classic Cinderella sports story. It's fascinating to see how these guys have processed this experience and shaped their own narratives from it. There are also some great cameos from Al Gore, Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Trudeau and Meryl Streep, all of whom either played in or attended the game. Thumbs up from all in our family, including a tween girl who didn't want to see it; 2 teen boys who did; DH. who went to Princeton and hates both Harvard and Yale, and yours truly -- a mom who is so totally not a football fan.

david attenborough has a few nice series if you like the sea: blue planet, and I think there's one after that. the blue planet deep sea is really cool with all those weird looking deep sea fish.
